that looks like me in some of my bass tournaments where we had 3 to 4 foot waves. Glad my Ranger was able to handle it as well as it did. Had one partner throw up when we got to the docks for check in. For some reason he quit fishing with me. LOL

Aside from their official motto, "Semper Paratus!" the Coast Guard's creed is, "You have to go out...nothing said about coming back!"  God Bless them and the services they perform!

My only close contact with Coasties was in 'Nam.  

 

Those guys are crazy.  I mean, who else would get on a relatively small plastic boat, with nowhere enough fire power, and drive it up a river too narrow to maneuver, much less turn around in, and run up the river a at slower than normal speed, shooting into the brush and jungle so someone will shoot back at them. 

 

And they go to sea when the water and weather is acting up WAAAAAY beyond what the Navy will tackle.

mine as well , ive been in a small boat in some very rough water but not like that , and they went in there on purpose

Don't know if it is still true, but in olden days the majority of Navy and Coast Guard were folks from the middle of the country.  Dad was a bold boater and we all survived, but I can recall our little 29' boat being in all sorts of seriously scary situations with the whole family on board.  Long Island Sound and the Atlantic. We even pulled a couple of much bigger, fancier boats out of trouble.  Magnetic compass, no radio, life jackets for all and a pathetic flare gun.  None of that uncommon back then.

I’ll bet! I have been in heavy seas on a ship and in boats. It’ll put a tweak in yer get-along, that’s for sure.
