Warden Callaway Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 Today waiting in car on Wally-World lot, here strolling in was a middle aged guy in pajamas. Later at another location I saw a woman with what I figure was pajamas but not so obvious. A few years back, right at dark and very cold, I witnessed a young man maybe 300 lbs, go in a Casey's convenient store wearing pajamas, a heavy coat, and house slippers. Came out with a big slurpy drink and half a pizza. What's the world coming to? 1 1 4 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted December 17, 2024 Posted December 17, 2024 It was especially prevalent during the plague. Still see it every once in a while, here still. It's called being lazy 3 Quote

Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Just another indication of societal downfall. It annoys me so much that I rarely go out in just a T-shirt unless it's because I'm in the middle of a project and have to go to the hardware store because I need something, or going through the McD's or BK drive thru. In hot weather it's a polo type shirt, jeans and boots, cooler weather, long sleeve button up shirt, jeans, boots, and Cowboy Hat. I don't even OWN shorts or flip flops. 2 Quote

Rip Snorter Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 The treatment you get in public situations is impacted positively by being neat, clean, appropriately dressed and well groomed. IMHO, even more important for older folks. 2 Quote

Pat Riot Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Since I have retired I wear shorts or sweat pants and tee shirts daily and I go out in public. I would dare anyone to voice their displeasure at my choices. Perhaps many years of California beach living has made an impression on me. I dress how I like and I don’t care what others think. 2 Quote
Cypress Sun Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I live in Florida. All you see is shorts and tee shirts. I don't own pajamas or care what anyone thinks of my attire. Respect is earned, not by what one wears, but by one's actions and deeds. 3 Quote

Think about all the closed circuit camera images and police artist drawings we've seen in the past 20 years. I bet 90% show the suspect wearing a hoodie. We need some common sense hoodie laws. 2 1 2 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 I don’t mind sweat pants around the gym or in the park or even out for a healthy walk or jog. I don’t like to see them in the workplace or a business environment. I wear T-shirts because I can get them tight enough to prevent them from getting tangled in machinery or moving parts. I seldom wear long sleeves for the same reasons and when I do, they are either pushed up or rolled up, unless I am dressed up for some occasion. I don’t wear shorts or sweats or sandals because I play with fire and arcs and sparks. I don’t own any of these. Been known to wear a hooded sweatshirt if the weather is REALLY cold and wet, but again, I don’t like wearing stuff that flops around or could be snagged or grabbed. I wear jeans, canvas pants, or bib overalls most of the time and I wear them close fitting. I haven’t owned a suit or sport coat for over fifty years and have only worn a rented one twice in that time. I seldom comment on what others wear uless what they wear could get them injured, but I know what I like and don’t like to see. Remember!! Opinions are like anal sphincters!! Everyone has at least one!!! 4 Quote
Rip Snorter Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 Too many bits froze or cut off for cancer to wear short sleeves or pants. Boots and a hat as well though it gets hot out here. Quote

Hashknife Cowboy Posted December 18, 2024 Posted December 18, 2024 From my vantage point, it really began during the Great Dumpster Fire of 2020, Covid lock down. As a college professor we had to change our delivery format to Zoom. So for the next 4 semesters, I saw many students attending class from bed, wardrobe consisted of pajamas, sweats and quite often, underwear. Guys in boxers alone got really old, for those who crossed the decency line, I just blanked out their screen, both male and female. When we regrouped back in person the entire wardrobe seemed to change. Pajamas seemed to become the norm everywhere. I was raised by a Texas Cowboy (dad) who preached to me, you have one shot at a first impression, don't mess it up. It only seemed to get worse, my last semester in the world of higher education came to a close in May of 24, pajamas in the classroom and in Walmart or the grocery store seemed to be the norm. I recently hired a 17 year old young man to to help with barn chores and he showed up wearing Power Rangers pajama pants, lets just say he the job didn't work out for him. Yes my generation still judges people appearance, vocabulary and table manners. Just my opinion...... 7 4 Quote
