H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) Here's an odd qeustion. If you have a .45 Colt conversion cylinder for a reproduction Walker and you were to ream the cylinders to fit, and enlarge the bore to .458", could said pistol handle .45-60? There looks to be enough room for everything to "fit." I know there is no real reason to DO this, especially considering the existence of .45 BPM, I am just wondering if it's possible. Warden Callaway Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 (edited) I think Hovey Smith deepened the chambers to take 460 S&W Magnum case. Edited December 12, 2024 by Warden Callaway Quote

Colorado Coffinmaker Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 At least ONCE. After that . . . . . Quote

H. K. Uriah, SASS #74619 Posted December 13, 2024 Author Posted December 13, 2024 (edited) Well, I got out my cartridge measuring caliper thingee and started doing some measurements. While there might be enough room to make the chambers bigger, the rim is a bit too large to fit. So in other words, it wouldn't work. I suppose the other option of just lengthening the chambers for the .45 BPM would be a proven course of action, but I doubt I will do so. This really was just a bizarre notion from the get go! Bailey Creek,5759 Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 How about using a 410? Load it with a 45 bullet. Grand Father used to shoot 410 out of a Trap Door. Quote
Capt. James H. Callahan Posted December 15, 2024 Posted December 15, 2024 (edited) You can do most anything if you want to spent the $$$$. When I started CAS I bought a 94 Trapper 45 colt. Of course it comes up one round short in most stages. I looked into having it converted to a 20 inch carbine. I did find one place in Montana that would do it for a cool $1000. . Ended up buying a 73 from Cabelas for about $800. JHC Edited December 15, 2024 by Capt. James H. Callahan Quote
