Alpo Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 And you have the correct paper money for the time period. If you went back to 1968, would you rather spend your money on M1 carbines - NRA good - for $66 each. Or still in the wrap 15 round magazines for $1 each? 1 1 Quote

Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Lots of things in those old adds that I bought and would like to buy again. I bought two M-1 carbines and box of a dozen or so "banana clips" for under $100.00. The carbines were one in my car and one in my wife's car. My son still has his mother's gun, my son-in-law has mine. 1 Quote
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 The only problem with that is that today, .30 Carbine AMMO is hard to find. I would get a few of those Walther PPs. Even in .32, they're probably worth a lot today. And then I'd find my Dad and tell him to invest heavily in IBM. 2 Quote

All the components are still widely available at semi-reasonable prices. Brass, 110gr bullets, IMR 4227 or H110 powder and small rifle primers will cost less than 1/2 the price of new ammo! Quote
bgavin Posted December 10, 2024 Posted December 10, 2024 Apple, Yahoo, Google and Intel stock. Then I could buy all the guns I want, and live in a state where I can do so. 1 1 Quote

IBM was, and just getting started. If my Dad could have invested say, $10,000 back then, we would have been Wealthy by 1990. Quote

Pat Riot Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 Okay, back to guns… I think I would concentrate on M1 Garands and Colt 1911s. Quote
Rip Snorter Posted December 11, 2024 Posted December 11, 2024 A $35 Johnson rifle or two, 1968. Do remember the dollar diminishment. Quote
