Alpo Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 And somebody left a delivery by their front door, would you go get it and take it in your house until they got home? Or would you think that it's not any of your business, and just ignore it?
Red Gauntlet , SASS 60619 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 We have long-time friendly relationship with the two next-door neighbors about mail, newspapers, etc. Particularly with one, we bring in their mail and papers and vice-versa on trips. We'd do the same with packages though it hasn't come up, I think. Most of our kids live in the neighborhood and they handle it, too.
Pat Riot Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 It depends on the neighbor. If I like them, yes. If I don’t, no.
sassnetguy50 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 No. Don't take anyone's property without asking first.

The rest of them can kiss my forget about it.
Boggus Deal #64218 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I likely wouldn’t unless they asked me to. I’m not worried about theft out here where I live but weather can come up pretty quickly. I have asked my neighbors to grab packages for me.
watab kid Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 id pick it up and deliver it to them when they got home - too many porch pirates this time of year , we ge6t wrong address delivery here all the time between about five of us =- everything gets where its going when neighbor gets home
Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 L Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 We usually ask each other to do that if we are expecting a package and will not be home.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 The three neighbors across the street and I look out for each other and pick up mail, packages, etc it they aren't there. The one next to me on the south is never home. I haven't seen him in almost a year. His daughter is living there and I seldom see her. The guy on the north is a hermit. He goes walking everyday and I see him once in awhile around towns . The last two are quiet and anti- social so we don't interact much.
watab kid Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 i have multiple LEOs that live next to me and around me , as well as some real nice folks that keep to themselves , if we had not had so much trouble with the driveby grabbers in the past id not worry on the packages sitting out a day or so but , its way to easy for the theifs to drive thru and grab , they would be disapointed in what they got from my house as my wife orders all the dogs vitamins and poop bags on line - thats whats been coming lately ,
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I do it for the ladies upstairs and they do it for me.
Dapper Dave Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 My only neighbor is my mother-in-law, and she is a saint, so absolutely.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 A couple of my neighbors actually tell me if they’re going out of town and for how long and I do the same. We pick up packages until they get home.

WD Farren Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 My neighbor of 32 years and I have this explicit understanding. We do notify each other when we are away.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 I'd bring it in and just leave a note letting them know.
Subdeacon Joe Posted December 4, 2024 Posted December 4, 2024 Bring it in and send them a text message.

A big box with a scooter in it was delivered to our neighbors house and I knew they were gone for the day. I texted them to know it was on their front porch for 2 reasons, 1) they normally never go in the front door, use the garage and 2) I figured it was the boys Christmas present and didn't want him to stumble upon it. I texted them to see if they wanted me to go get it and put it in my garage for now but they said no, that they would make sure he went through the garage and they would take care of it. I was working in my garage with the door up so I could at least keep an eye on it so no one walked off with it. TM
