bgavin
I'm down on day #6 of the nasty head cold going around, so we don't have company this year. With nothing else to do, I figured it is time to discard my beloved Windows 7 and upgrade to Win10. Too many of my daily use apps will no longer run on less than Win10, so it is time. Being the careful sort (read: burned too many times) I backed up a GHOST image of my Win7 system. On a lark, I decided to verify the image.... and it crapped out. Oops... Santa just brought me a dying backup disk. Drat.. only 58,000 hours and it developed a bit of a bug. So, I hooked in a new replacement driver and will be spending the next 24+ hours syncing the old disk to the new one. 2 1
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474
Just like any other day for me. Get up, and make coffee. Check the e-mail. Read. Think about vacuuming or dusting. (Naw!) Wonder if I should start loading for next years matches. (Naw! I'll wait until the snow has me housebound.) Hop in the car and go for a drive to the range! YEAH! 2
Cypress Sun
If I understand correctly, Windows 10 will soon be outdated and updates will cease. I've received notices to switch to Windows 11 but haven't done it yet as everyone I've talk to that switched hates it. I'm not good with computers so I'll stay with 10 until forced to switch.
Michigan Slim
Had a get together today with my son's family and his inlaws. Nice time. Daughter is forcing me to deer hunt the rest of the weekend. I'll sacrifice for my kid I guess. 2 1

That's where I'm at too! Been advised to stay status quo with 10. The little woman almost did it the other when they threatened her!
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I don’t think one is ever forced to upgrade.

Maybe not, but when they stop issuing updates it's only a matter of time before the Windows (fill in the blank) stops operating correctly or just stops loading when you turn the computer on. The last time it happened to me was Windows Vista. Since I didn't know anything other than Vista, I liked using it but it got where I couldn't use it any longer due to taking forever to start or load anything. Managed to skip the Windows between Vista and 10 though.

Colorado Coffinmaker
OOPS!! I forgot the original OP question. What is this "Time Off" of which you speak??? Confused. I'm RETIRED. My weekend starts on Monday and runs thru Friday. I stay home on Saturday and Sunday - too many Cubicleites on the loose, clog everything up. Unless it's a Match day on Saturday. I do get out for Matches you betcha. 1

Pat Riot
I am finally feeling like I am actually retired. For two years I kept anticipating some terrible news that would force me back to work. This weekend I will be reloading and mounting a new scope on a rifle. I will finally yank the ACs out of the windows as well.

Badlands Bob #61228
I think I'll just sit here and look out the window and watch the mailbox. I'm waiting on a part to fix my Dillon 650 and a cartridge to fix the drip in the Moen shower faucet. I'll be done watching by 7:30 because that's when the Ga / Ga Tech game starts. Uh oh. The wife just stopped by my perch and told me she needs me to help her wrap gifts today.

bgavin
Windows 7 has long been out of "support". Win10 ends "support" in October of 2025. No big deal. The ONLY reason I moved away from Win7 to Win10 is because of planned obsolescence. Quickbooks, Turbo Tax, ON1 (photoshop clone), Chrome and Firefox (current) all refuse to run on less than Win10. The "support" is the endless stream of patches for security related issues. These are for the guys who open every click in every email, or are a regular at "hotchix.com" or similar. Nothing will really protect you if have a penchant for trolling in dirty bars. Those terrified of security problems should invest in Malwarebytes. You can buy it every Black Friday weekend for 40% off. This is the best deal of the year. I run it on all our workstations and phones. I am always amused that Malwarebytes finds phishing and malvertising sites on Fox News. MB is highly recommended. The rest are not. Win11 is still a well documented nightmare. It has a heavy hardware requirement, plus the latest updates are still breaking things. It has gotten SO complex it stumbles over itself. Not Recommended.
