Cypress Sun Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Yes, it's an anti-war song, anti-establishment and all that. I only listen to it once a year, some like it...some don't. Here it is anyway. 5 3 Quote

Lawdog Dago Dom Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 You always knew the DJ had to get a bite or use the bathroom when this song or American Pie came on the air. 2 Quote

Blackwater 53393 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I usually stay on Classic Vinyl or go to Rewind when Vinyl plays Elton John. I also hit Tom Petty, The Dead, and The Beatles channels from time to time. 1 Quote

MizPete Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Damn, Stumpy, I could have gone all day without knowing Alice has passed. Otherwise, thanks for posting. Now I don't have to go looking for it on the radio on the way to my Grandmom-in-law's house tomorrow. Quote
Blackwater 53393 Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 Even the Beatles had a disc jockey break song! Quote
Cypress Sun Posted November 28, 2024 Author Posted November 28, 2024 Although it didn't get played much, another DJ break song Quote
Pat Riot Posted November 28, 2024 Posted November 28, 2024 I never cared for Alice’s Restaurant, In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida and a couple other classic ‘60’s hits. Nothing wrong with the music. They just don’t remind me of good times. Also, I was born in ‘61 so some 60’s rock tunes were a bit over my head. Then again I was probably the only 10 year old that owned, loved and listened to Emerson, Lake & Palmer’s first album released in the U.S. in ‘71. Long play DJ break tunes - Free Bird, Stairway to Heaven. 1 Quote

As kids and til the mid 80s we spent summer weeks in Welfleet! My Grandparents had a home on the Atlantic in South Welfleet. RIP Alice 1 Quote

It was always on the 2nd turntable with the needle on the song's beginning. When there was incoming the DJ would flip the turntable's switch, pot down the on air audio & pot up In-A-Godda-Vida. Then exit the studio and jump into the bunker under the middle of the hooch that the was the radio station. WTLB was the 25th ID's pirate radio station at the end of the divisions deployment to SVN. Pirate radio stations existed to play rock music because AFVN played mostly elevator music. 2 1 Quote
