Trailrider #896 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 This post-election time is almost as bad...or maybe worse...than the post-CW, where some, but not all, the former Confederates went lawless. I don't discuss the results of the election with one of my daughters and her family. We are all going to wait and see what happens. As Harry Truman said, "The future is the history we don't know yet." Happy Thanksgiving, Pards! 1 Quote
Pat Riot Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 Loved the video, but also loved the commercials afterwards…I don’t have an Apple Watch. If I smoked cigars I would definitely buy some from the company that posted the first ad. And now, something completely different… At family get togethers I have a simple rule; “No political or religious discussion”! If I am a guest at a relative’s or friends house and politics or religion are brought I respectfully say “This is (fill in the holiday). I don’t discuss or listen to politics (or religion) on (fill in the holiday) and I respectfully request you do not try to discuss it with me.” I say this loud enough that others hear it as well. Oh, and don’t forget to smile. These tactics do work. Also, I do not serve alcohol at my get togethers and I don’t allow it if a guest brings it. No exceptions. 1 Quote
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 I have walked away from many fiends and a lot of relatives.....sometimes in the middle of some event, even a friend's funeral.....because I don't want to listen to this crap. My sister didn't talk to me much...until she and her husband went to Vietnam for "a holiday". They came back and asked why I hadn't told them how awful it was. I had tried, but they didn't want to listen. A few came around, but a lot didn't. I don't miss them much. Quote
Yul Lose Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) I have a son in law that’s 2 years, 247 days, 13 hours and 12 minutes older than me and very far left. He knows the no politics, no religion rule when he comes in but thinks he’s above it and gets his digs in anyway. My wife came out to the shop yesterday and told me that he wouldn’t be here because he’s up north tending to his sick mother, we high fived each other. It’s going to be a great Thanksgiving.
