Alpo Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 If you are filling out a form that requires a series of numbers that has dashes in it, do you put the dashes in? You just got in touch with social security and you're entering your social security number. 123-45-6789. Do you put those two dashes in or do you just write 123456789? If they want your phone number - 212-555-1234. Do you put the dashes in or do you just write 212551234? Credit card number. 1234-5678-9012-3456. Or do you just write 1234567890123456? Trusting the software to put the dashes and parentheses where they belong? I know one time I was entering a credit card number, and I did it xxxx xxxx xxxx xxxx. Or at least I tried. Because they only had room for 16 characters, so because of the spaces I put in there I ended up with xxxx xxxx xxxx x. Quote

Eyesa Horg Posted November 25, 2024 Posted November 25, 2024 Phone numbers, I try the dash first. Credit cards, no dash or space first. Usually flys, if not, you'll know right away! Quote
