I've had this little Forehand & Wadsworth Break Top revolver for many years but the mainspring was missing when I got it.  Does anyone have one of these little revolvers & would be willing to share a picture of the mainspring?  I had a gunsmith look at it years ago but without the pieces of the old mainspring he wasn't willing to guess about how to make a replacement.  The bottom end of the mainspring doesn't go down to the bottom of the butt of the grip frame.  It ends midway in the grip frame on the back strap in a recess with a pin.  The top of the barrel is marked Forehand & Wadsworth, Worcester, MASS, U.S.A., PAT'D DEC. 7 86, & JAN. 11/87.  It appears to be .32 caliber.

Thanks.

Hope that helps.

Note:  Even though this gun will chamber .32 S&W Long, it is designed for .32 S&W.  Using the longer round in it is NOT a good idea and can lead to frame stretching over time.

One way to confirm this is that with the action open, you will notice that the extractor at its max length is too short to fully eject the Long cartridge.

Good luck.
