sassnetguy50 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Seeking your experience when buying holsters that were purchased years ago but never used. Example, a still in the package, from known commercial maker, for a known model pistol, that sat in a smoke free gun room for 10-20 years. What percentage discount (from current retail) would you expect to pay for the holster you want? Trying to determine fair value from those who deal in realistic holster sales. PSA: label your holsters or make a list of what the form fitted holsters go with in your estate. It takes minutes to do and eliminates hassle for those left behind. Quote
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 For starters, is/ are the holster/s still being made? Are they a specifically desirable holster? Are they from a large manufacturer, (Bianchi, Galco), or from a small, semi custom type shop, (Kirkpatrick, Mernickle)? If they are something still in production and readily available, I probably wouldn't charge much over the marked price. If they were something no longer available, again, how desirable is it? I'd bet something like a Big Ed Douglas San Pedro holster would be almost worth it's weight in gold. Quote
sassnetguy50 Posted November 22, 2024 Author Posted November 22, 2024 All are commercial manufacturers Bianchi, Galco, S&W, Triple K, Hunter... None of the new ones are collectable or big money, $90 tops. Some are discontinued and some are currently offered. Quote

I would say that the discontinued ones might be priced at a little more than priced as marked, the still available somewhat less than marked. Put them up on the Classified forum as you see fit with a "Or best offer" and see what interest you get. Quote
Badlands Bob #61228 Posted November 22, 2024 Posted November 22, 2024 Used leather gear doesn't bring anywhere near the original price. As a private seller, if you get 50% of new price, you are doing well. 25% is probably more realistic. 1 Quote
