Arrow Wood
I'm just getting back into SASS shooting after several years in the barn. Unfortunately i have about 4 pounds of Trail Boss that picked up moisture while in storage and it will not drop thru my LEE turret press loading system... dang dang... So i've turned to my other old standby UNIQUE only to find it just not available anywhere i've searched. An article in The American Rifleman of July 1923 spoke of using Bullseye, so that's my next search but was wondering if any other shooters might have suggestions about a powder that might be more available on the current market?? Hodgdon Universal?? BE86?? Titegroup?? What say you??

Abilene, SASS # 27489
Did the Trailboss ever meter through your Lee measure before it "went bad"? I used some TB in the past for 32-20 and had to hand dip it. You could try a few that way to see if they still shoot properly.
Edward R S Canby, SASS#59971
I like that you are requesting info on available powders. Hodgdon shows load data for lead bullets for HP-38 (W231 is the same powder). Midsouth and Natchez both have HP-38 in stock. I'm currently loading HP-38 in 38 Specials for CAS. It meters wonderfully but is a bit dirty (but less so than Unique). I don't try to load it in reduced powder loads as others who have tried report poor results. My primary use of HP-38 is semi-auto cartridges. Hodgdon also shows load data for Tightgroup. It is currently available too. Jim Brown
Been a long time since I loaded 32-20. My load was 4.5 grains W231 with 118Gr RNFP.
High Spade Mikey Wilson
I load 2.3 grains of Trail Boss in my 32-20 with a 100gr cast bullet. TB meters just fine through either my Hornady or Lyman powder measures.

Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Titegroup is about the most available powder right now for doing light loads in most any cowboy cartridge, and it will work fine in .32-20. It is also sold with the name High Gun (exactly the same powder, just another "marketing name" added by Hodgdon). If you have some on hand, Bullseye would work fine, too. Have not seen it very available now, though. good luck, GJ Edited November 22 by Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
