How Many States Have You Shot Cowboy In - Part II?

Necro-Thread Rises From The Dead, well, sort of...

 

Back on March 22, 2023, I started a thread asking folks How Many States Have You Shot COWBOY In? and it ran through October of 2023 with @Cowtown Scout, SASS #53540 Lposting a picture of him at the WV State Match being the last to post.  Funny thing is that the old fat guy with no hat on sitting with his back to the camera on Cowtown Scout's right (left of the picture) was ME!  Life went sideways shortly after that match and I hadn't updated the thread in a while, so not unexpectedly, it got archived in the great SASS Bit Bucket In The Sky.  Consequently, I decided to restart the thread so folks can update their travels if they so choose.

 

Since my last update, Holli and I have managed to add two States to our list, North Carolina which was supposed to have happened in 2023 but got pushed to this year, and Kentucky when we attended Black Gold this past summer.  For 2025, in addition to some new locations in some of our "Normal" states, we have included South Carolina in our list of states to visit.  There is still a hole in our schedule for July and August, but that may remain open as, once and a while, Holli expects me to do stuff on that Honey Do List she keeps in her head.  She even gave me a sign (Prominently displayed hanging in my office) so I don't forget...

 

 

 

With all of that in mind, here is our updated State list as of the end of the 2024 Shooting Season.  With South Carolina early next year, either Ohio or Georgia would seem to be the next likely candidates to fill in some glaring gaps in our travels.

we are working on our schedule for next season and hope to add several more.

I have always shot in the state of Sobriety, but held off posting it as not wanting to derail the thread. Also for me, much more in the state of Anticipation. 

 

For SASS though, just Tennessee. 3 additional states for unrelated competitions, and one more just for ranges I have shot at for fun.

Our states that we Jackrabbit Joe & Sly Puppy have shot at total of 15:

Arizona, California, New Mexico, Idaho, Oregan, Washington, Nevada, Colorado, Texas, Louisiana, Utah, Montana, Arkansas, 

Wyoming, Oklahoma.

Would have been more but health reasons took over starting in 2023.  Shooting only local and last shoot was May 2024.

Hoping to get back into shooting again somewhere in time.

It is over on the right side of the map but it really isn't a state but its alias is DC.

Actually, that is the state of Chaos.  They circled it with the Beltway (495) to try to contain it, but it keeps leaking into Maryland and Virginia.  I keep wondering that it we could just get everyone in all the surrounding states to drive around the belt way in a counter-clockwise direction that maybe we could actually flush the swamp!

 

Around here, we have a saying....

Eleanor Jewel and I have done CAS in 18 statesMI, OH, MN, IL, IN, PA, KY, WV, FL, TN, AR, LA, TX, OK, MO, CO, NM, and AZ. We've been to a lot of ranges and made a lot of Friends in the last 26 years. 2025 will make it 27 and we hope to make some more.

These states have seen me either with my guns or borrowed ones.  Plus New Zealand.  When I get old and retire, I'm hopin' to fill in the many blanks, Europe and Aus (I have a cousin that lives there... so that's my excuse).  I planned on a shoot in ID, but that was the weekend that the clocks were turned back... I was way early and got tired waiting...

OK is not that hard to make a map of where you have shot.  I just used the link that Texas Maverick posted to make maps for everyone who did not post a map and had more than 2 states.  Using his link I just picked the states from the list and made a map using the default colors and then right clicked and save the files to a folder on my hard drive.  Pretty easy and it gives a great visual of where you have shot. 

 

Much better that just a list.  Maybe this will inspire future posters to make maps instead of lists.   Now to post those maps as replies to the previous list posts.
