Badlands Bob #61228 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 That would make somebody a great Wild Bunch gun. Traditional category, of course. 3 Quote
Alpo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Barrow did not use tommy guns. He preferred BARs. 2 Quote
Pat Riot Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Looks like this gun was stolen from an armory by the Barrows. It doesn’t state that it was used by Bonnie & Clyde just that it could have been a gun they handled during an armory theft. 2 2 Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 PLUS ONE for Pat Riot. Barrow Gang Gun (Recovered). Along with a large stash of stolen 1911s. No specific provenance to Clyde or Bonnie. I see it as just another used 1911. Nothing really special. Pawn value about $250. Retail, maybe $600. However, some punter with more money than good sense is gonna pay a bunch for it. Barnum said it best!! 3 1 Quote
Alpo Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Barrow robbed a lot of National Guard armories. I never heard of him robbing the Navy. But let's say he did rob the Navy. He stole this 45. It was recovered by the cops and it was returned to the Navy. And they issued it to a young officer. Who stole it. Generals were issued a General Officer's pistol. So possibly Admirals were issued something similar. But during World War II what they were given was a Colt Model M 32. Not no 1911. The General Officer's pistol was theirs to keep forever. But if he was also issued a 1911 or a Thompson or a Garand, he was supposed to turn that back in. And the blurb said that it has been in the Admiral's family since he retired. So he stole it when he left the Navy. 1 Quote
bgavin Posted November 16, 2024 Posted November 16, 2024 Mebbe that 45 was "shot out" which would reduce the value of a non-collector's item gun. Quote
