I can’t say anything about Forty’s breakfast choices being odd. I like to have dinner for breakfast sometimes.
One of my favorites is a Burger King Whopper w/ cheese disassembled and reheated in the toaster oven with an order of fries from the night before.
5 minutes at 350.

Reassemble Whopper weigh lettuce, tomato and mayo. Fries get resalted and eaten with ketchup.
Another favorite is smoked chicken willing and cole slaw.

Another is chili with corn chips.

I do like to cut up corned beef and fry it with scrambled eggs. Mmmmmmmm

Had a Reuben for lunch today. It was from Arby’s which usually produces a pretty good sandwich.  I was disappointed with this one!!  Barely enough sauerkraut to taste at all and very little Swiss cheese either!!

Made me think of paying a visit to the local deli for the makin’s!!

Man, I love me some sauerkraut on a polish sausage in a bun topped with mustard!

Maybe we could do the cowboy lunch at the Bavarian Beirhaus

Every now and then I get an urge for a corned beef hash and sauerkraut Ruben sandwich with dill pickles, french fries, and coffee for breakfast.

Sounds good to me.

Meatloaf and sauerkraut sandwich is pretty good, too.

Sauerkraut and pulled pork ribs are a diabetic staple for me.
And, a great breakfast.

Okay I’ll be the odd man out here but I can’t stand sauerkraut, the smell alone makes me want to vomit 🤮 😂

I’ll  take the Reuben sandwich and fries though but hold the pickles also 🙄😂

A Reuben without sauerkraut?  Doesn’t that make it a grilled cheese with corned beef?

But that sounds pretty good.😊

Corned beef on rye with Swiss cheese and Russian dressing.

Not bad, but much better with a generous helping of kraut and some horseradish!!!

I had a German lady as a business partner for 11 years.  She had been born in Prussia, her family left to Scotland when the Nazis came into power, moved to Canada shortly after the war, and ended up in Chicago.  She and her husband became citizens a few weeks before we moved to Arizona.

She always had five or six crocks of sauerkraut in different stages and different flavors in her kitchen.  I have alway liked kraut but she really hooked me on it.  Kraut with lots of bacon and a touch of lemon and Tabasco is my favorite.  It goes with so many kinds of pork and beef, almost any kind of bread, several cheeses (I favor mild Gouda) and with nearly every kind of mustard, ranch dressing, even soy sauce.

One caution: if you eat a lot of any kind of sauerkraut stay down wind of EVERYONE for a few hours, and don't breathe on anyone for 48 hours.  :o

DeLucas Diner in Pittsburg serve a great "Super Bowl" omelet. Check out the listing from the menu. I've had this and it is great.

Okay, but that means more onions and three or four more kinds of peppers as well as more horseradish and lots of spicy pickles!!

I’ve even got a jar of hot pickled onions with crushed cayenne!!

What?!? Y’all don’t like it spicy??

Okay!!  Butter sautéed mushrooms with roasted garlic and caramelized onions over broiled cajun turkey on a toasted kaiser roll with a mild Japanese mayo!!

THERE! No pickling and not much spice, but I like the flavors, even if they’re a little, shall we say, reserved!!

And!  I’ll have a side of kraut to go with that!  😜

Think a less sweet and slightly spicy Thousand Island Dressing.

A couple of formulas:

https://www.thekitchn.com/russian-dressing-recipe-23207871

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup

    mayonnaise

  • 3 tablespoons

    ketchup-style chili sauce

  • 1 tablespoon

    minced white onion

  • 1 teaspoon

    prepared horseradish

  • 1/2 teaspoon

    Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/2 teaspoon

    smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon

kosher salt, plus more as needed

  • 1/4 teaspoon

    dry mustard

  • 1/4 teaspoon

freshly ground black pepper, plus more as needed

    https://www.onceuponachef.com/recipes/russian-dressing.html

Ingredients

½ cup mayonnaise, best quality such as Hellmann’s or Duke’s
½ cup sour cream
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons ketchup or chili sauce
¼ cup plus 2 tablespoons dill relish
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 heaping tablespoon finely minced shallot

I don’t recommend the store bought Russian dressing!!

The first of SDJ’s recipes is really close to what came on the original Reuben Sandwich and it’s really tasty!!

Schoolmarm makes her Russian dressing very much like that!
