I have another medical question

On the old Ellery Queen TV show - back in the 70s - Ellery solved one death.

The Dead Guy, who had heart problems, was found with his nitroglycerin in his left hand coat pocket. Ellery said they did not do that. Said that when you had a heart attack your left arm did not work correctly, so you would not be able to get your pills out of your left hand pocket. They told you to carry your pills in your right hand pocket.

I had a heart attack. I don't remember having any problem with my left hand. Also, them itty bitty pill bottles - if you don't have two working hands you ain't going to get the damn thing open anyway.

I have heard that if you have a stroke your left arm frequently does not work correctly. But I've not heard that before about a heart attack.

So my question - is this true, or just another example of script writers making crap up?

When I wrote "nitroglycerin", otto changed it to "natural boyfriend". Fortunately I caught it in proofreading.

I think otto is a pervert.

AFAIK while having a heart attack you do not lose the ability to use your arms and/or hands.

A stroke can cause either or both sides of your body to lose mobility. The left side of your brain controls the right side of your body and the right side controls the left side of your body.

Left brain strokes are more common.

mine was brady cardia last year , that did not restrict either side and only my balance and ability to move normally , i fell and i couldnt get up , i had thought that was a sales gimmick to sell that push button request for assistance device , now i know it can happen ,

I had an LAD heart attack while bending down to pick up paper on the floor.
Both arms worked correctly, but I felt horrible.

I carry nitro in my right pants pocket all the time, and I am right handed.

Just another example of script writers making crap up.

The article Dave linked is a good synopsis.  My dad had a textbook right hemisphere stroke.  He lost the use of the entire left side and had the classic left neglect mentioned in the article.  When asked to draw the face of a clock he drew a circle and the numbers 12-6.  He did not know what went on the left side.
