Alpo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 There was a thread couple years ago. About whether you return the buggy or not. And I was shocked at how many people here in the Saloon (ACS) said they just leave it next to their car and drive off. "I don't work for that store. It's not my job to put it away." "That store has people hired specifically to go out in the parking lot and collect shopping carts. If I put it away they wouldn't need him and he would no longer have a job." I really liked that justification. That's like the arsonist saying he sets fires so the fireman has a job.
Sgt. C.J. Sabre, SASS #46770 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I always put the thing in the cart corral. It's not that hard, it keeps parking places clear, and while the store DOES pay people to collect them, it's far easier to collect them from the corral than from all over the parking lot. How often do you go to pull into a parking place, only to get about halfway in and find a shopping cart in the way? It annoys me, and it's a PITA to have to either stop and move it so you can park, of back out and find another parking place. Wrong is wrong, even if everybody's doing it. Right is right, even if nobody's doing it. You can quote me.
Eyesa Horg Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I've been known to collect a couple others on my way to the corral. It's really not that difficult.
Cypress Sun Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I always return the cart to the corral or to the person collecting them if they are nearby. People that don't return the cart to the proper place deserve to have someone walk down the side of their vehicle and hit it with a hammer with every step.
Subdeacon Joe Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I'll either put it in the cart corral, put it near the front door, give it to person out collecting the carts, or, if I'm parked close to the front door and there's little or no traffic (usually right after opening time or just before closing) give it a hard push to see if I can get it to the posts at the front door....HE SHOOTS! HE SCORES!!!!! Then, about half the time walking over to get it all the way up. What really irks me are the idjits who leave carts in the handicap spaces.
bgavin Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I return them to the corral. The guy who has a job, gets them from the corral to the store.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I'm handicapped, (Need two new knees) but I'm not a lazy, ignorant SOB. I return the cart to the corral and limp back to the car.

Alpo Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 Few years back - it was late autumn, and sort of chilly, so I was wearing an A2 aviator's leather jacket. I put my groceries in my truck, and then walked across and put my buggy in the cart corral. I turned back toward my truck and there was a man coming towards me pushing a buggy. I clapped my hands together loudly to get his attention, then spread them - like you would do on a basketball court to tell the guy with the ball "pass it to me". He pushed the buggy at me, and I caught it and put it in the corral. As I head back for my truck again he hollered thank you. I hollered back that I knew he was a good person, because he was wearing a leather jacket. He gave me a thumbs up as he got in his car. We must have been the only two wearing leather that day because the parking lot was full a buggies just left out.

I really don't give a thought, been doing it since talking my mother into letting me when I was little! Can't say I've never left one in the lot though. Especially if it's pouring and no corral within sight.
Rye Miles #13621 Posted November 15, 2024 Posted November 15, 2024 I always return the cart, it’s a little extra excercise 😂😂
