Prairie Dawg, SASS #50329
We want to wish you Veterans a Happy Veteran’s Day (If “happy” is an appropriate word.) Thank you so very much for your service to our country. It made secure all the freedoms my family has enjoyed throughout our lifetime, and the freedoms my children & grandchildren will continue to enjoy when Dakota Skipper & I are gone. We appreciate it more than we can say. --Dakota Skipper & the Dawg 7
Widder, SASS #59054
Thanks, Tombstone. It was an honor. US Navy for 4 years (its where my hearing started diminishing. The worst: I was stationed in North Africa (Morocco) for 16 months. The Navy has (or had) a communication station in a place called Sidi Yahia. Its on the edge of 'God forsaken' land. The Best: some of the finest men I've ever known were in the Navy. Great leaders. Sorri, but I never served under a female back in those days (69-73. If I were younger again, I would probably join again and maybe even stay longer if possible. Father: Navy Older Brother, his son and grandson: Marines (the grandson is still active) Brother in Law: Marines My wifes Dad and his 3 brothers served everywhere in the ARMY: WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. God Bless those folks and their families, who often sacrifice more than we realize. ..........Widder Edited November 11 by Widder, SASS #59054 3
Garrison Joe, SASS #60708
Our Veterans have given us the greatest gift possible....freedom from the tyranny which has tried to take over the world several times! Let us not forget that the ones who served contributed to this just as much as the ones who died in the service of the Country. May God protect our service members and our Country! May the future be served by folks of the same character, GJ
Cpt Dan Blodgett, SASS #75655
For me it is the second saddest day of the year remembering those who made it home but are no longer with us. I do like all the thanks and Denny's bfast take really good care of the servers for their taking care of me on this sacred day.
Griff
No thanks are needed by me... I do truly appreciate the sentiment. A far cry from the day I separated from active service and was told that, "... unless you're applying for a gov't job, don't put down that you spent the last four years in the service... it'll hurt your chances of getting a job in today's civilian market." 2

Sedalia Dave
Smartest thing I ever did or ever will do was stay till retirement. Wouldn’t trade the memories for ten million dollars. 3

Dapper Dave
I did nothing special but get drunk and be with women of ill repute all over the Pacific Ocean, (not counting the little shindig we had with the Iranian Navy, THAT was a great day), and left the US Navy older and most certainly NOT wiser. Admin did us dirty today, though - they had a big to-do on AM Shift for vets fresh hot trays with hot dogs and hamburgers, Admin ding the cooking, flags everywhere, the works... We on Graveyard came in to styro clamshells with cold leftovers in the fridge and little notes saying "veteran" on the box. Thanks, but no thanks - I brought my own midrats. I don't care about ME, but I have some awesome vets on my shift, and if I had known, I'd brought in some hot food myself for them. Memorial day is a totally different day for me as it is strictly for those who did not make it home. In our sorrow we can thank God that such men and women were born that would give their lives for this great nation. 1
Trailrider #896
Johnny Carson once asked Lonesome George Gobel how he felt about serving as Army Air Forces Flight Instructor during WWII, instead of flying overseas. George replied, "Well, I went where I was told to go, and did what I was told to do to the best of my ability. An' the last time I looked, the Japanese hadn't taken Oklahoma." (Obviously before there were Toyota dealerships.) To all of us who served, in harm's way or not, and to the "SACumcised" among us, Peace was Our Profession". Happy Veterans Day! 2
