Looking to have a Stetson Open Road cleaned & restored. Will need a new sweatband and hat liner. Will not need a size change. Any help, suggestions or otherwise appreciated.

Thanks,

Marlin (with an old dirty hat) Buckhorn

Might look at BM Franklin in Atlanta, Ga. They’ve done a couple for me and they turned out very nice.

If you are going to EOT, several hatters will often attend. Depending on how well they are doing will determine if they are mad hatters or not.

Landers Hatworks  https://www.landershatworks.com/  CJ has rebuilt several of my hats.  Beautiful work.

The hats I wear on the ranch get stiffened and cleaned after several years.  The good, custom hats get cleaned as needed - mostly the silver belly and gray to look respectable since I wear them to nice places.  The Black custom stays black but gets brushed, but it is the newest.

There's this place in St. Joseph, MO that  might be able to handle that work for you, it's located @  3601 S Leonard Rd, St Joseph, MO 64503, you can talk to a live person @  (816) 233-3286, opens 9am tomorrow (Sat, 11-9-24).  There's another place in Garland, TX that might can fix ya up, they're located at:  721 Marion Dr, Garland, TX 75042 and can be reached @ (972) 494-0337 after 9am tomorrow also.  Plus, they have a website:  Under their FAQ section:

Can I get my hat refurbished:

We refurbish 15X quality and above felt hats. You will need to take the hat to our nearest dealer and have them call us for a renovate number. We need the information from the tag inside your hat that tells us the name of the hat, color, and quality. The retailer will need to give you the cost of the renovations. The renovation includes cleaning, blocking, and replacing the sweatband and the liner. There are some stains we cannot remove and we cannot patch holes. If your hat is less than a 15X quality you will need to contact an individual renovator.

This is my 32 year old 30X Diamond Horseshoe Stetson...  after taking it to them  and talking to them

, I bought a new one!  As well as had them clean & put a new liner and band in. But,nNothing to be done about the stains on this one.

But, seriously... 66d5ef79-bc3f-4b53-9564-2748617049cd.gif is your friend.  Simply typing in "cowboy hats restored" or clicking on that link will bring up several outfits that special in such work.

Are you close to River Junction Trade Co. in McGregor, Iowa? Check with them to see if that's a service they offer. It would give ya an excuse to go shop there.

Took the Chili Pepper Kid's advice and called River Jct Trade. One of the main problems with the hat was the cigarette ash burns in the liner.

Well, they said maybe they could fix it or make me a new liner. Mailed them the old liner, saved driving 2 1/2 hours one way. Well I got a call on Friday, yep they can fix it. Will un-stitch the old liner from the Stetson hat center, cut a new liner, stitch it to the old Stetson hat liner center and mail it back to me.

Pretty sweet deal and a very fair price, thanks Chili Pepper Kid for the suggestion!  And all you other Cowboys for your help as well.
