Bandoleer help/Weighted concho recommendations?

Hey all! New to SASS/CAS and decided to try to use a bandoleer instead of a shotgun belt. I'm on the thinner side and have been having issues with the bandolier staying put when I move around during a stage. I was told using a leather thong or some such to tie the bandoleer to my gun belt is verboten so before I give up on the bandoleer, I wanted to come here for ideas! Folks at my club suggested replacing the concho at the bottom where the leather comes together with a weighted one but I'm having trouble finding a heavy concho online. Most retailers don't seem to list the weight.

Any help, ideas, and/or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

I have a bandoleer as well, from Doc Noper, I have no movement issues with mine.

Have you discussed your issue with the maker of said bandoleer?  Is it sized to you properly?

I have not discussed with the maker (Mernickle), no. When I was buying it we discussed my height and he chose the size for me. That being said, it's a beautiful, well crafted piece.. just not sure it's right for my body type (beanpole).

Double Diamond sewed a very coarse piece of leather to the shoulder of mine and that works very well to keep it from moving.

That's a good idea. Maybe between a weight at the bottom and something with more grip at the top it'll stay put.

When I used a bandoleer  I had at the lower point a hard leather pouch that was filled with ammo. Added a lot of weight to the lower end and looked appropriate. There was some trial and error to get the correct placement but was worth it.

Doc Noper made mine as well. It stays were I put it. It is made of fairly thick leather and does not move.

Not allowing securing the bando to belt is one of those sass rules I don’t understand. But that’s the rule!

I see most users of a bandolier load all the loops on the back and front.  I alway thought this was to add weight and help stablize it since it cannot be tied down.

I could see this working instead of a heavy concho, I'll look out for a pouch I can fit over it.

Some bandoleers have loops on the back, I’ve seen shooters with shells inserted to help balance it out.

Could always try eating more donuts to fill out a SASS cowboy belly. 😄

Loading the back with shells certainly helps, I notice more of an issue toward the end of a match when I've used most of my shells. I think I'll get a bunch of slugs to stay in there and see if that helps.

Guess you could try replacing what you shoot after each stage so it is always full when you are shooting and see if that takes care of your issue.

Thought I sent my opinion but do not see it.  Suggest three things.
1.  Make sure you are not pulling straight up but I angle shells forward and then up.

2.  Have at least eight on the back starting with lowest position.

3.  My bandolier guy, Persimmon Dan of Murphy Custom Gunleather, has some sort of rough suede on the inner part of the bandolier.

Also, it will not hurt anything if the bandolier jumps a little as it likely will come to rest before you get back to grab the next two.

If you wear suspenders, run the bandolier under them. It will help the slipping.

IMO, that would be considered a violation of the following:

"...bandoleers must be loose and not secured in any way to prevent movement"

SHB p.3

"Note: Any ammo carried to the stage in an illegal/unapproved manner that is actually used

for stage reloads falls under the “Use of illegally acquired ammunition” penalties."

SHB p.4

That was what I thought until some folks I shoot with said that was legal. My apologies for bad advice and will change my own method of carry [loaded shells in back].

A friend of mine sewed a Bowie knife sheath into the front lower portion of his bandolier, then had me load up some brass 12ga. "dummy" rounds (all shot, no powder) for the back loops.
No movement due to the weight...but he best avoid deep puddles!
