CARB Attacks the Motorhome Industry

Recommended Posts

I am baffled as to how California can affect businesses and politics outside the state.
If we had a federal gov’t with balls this silliness would be easily squashed. Which makes me think that perhaps the Feds are also in cahoots as CA is doing what they wish without them having to do a thing.

There are plenty of people working hard to turn this whole country over to such nonsense. Remember that when ya vote today

Other states virtue signaled by passing laws that they would follow CARB policies.

Well, they got the entire west coast from Mexico to Canada.  Now would be a really good time to throw them out of our Union.

Let's see if they can survive without US ports, airports, interstate and US highways, bridges and dams income from government facilities, cut off the recognition of  any of those three states government or industrial operations, cut off all federal funds, put in border stations and require pass ports to cross into the USA.

See how long they get by running their own prisons, medi outlets, medical facilities, and anything else we can think of.

We can also cut off power and other US facilities to California, shut down all US operations in the states: parks, forests, military facilities, mail service, you name it.  Stop support for police operations, border crossings, dams and canals, their produce, oil, etc and see how long they can survive.  Throw their state representativse, government or non-goverment back across their borders.

Levy taxes and other charges on every singe product that they try to move out of their little fiefdom and boycott shopments back to these outlaw states

If they want to be the big dog, let them, but make them do so in their own states, not the rest of us.   Show then that they NEED us but we do not need them!

I'm sick and tired of cow-towing and coddling to every socialist, poorly thought-out, stupid, anti- American whim that they bring forth form their tyranical minds.

Thank you for that clarification. You're spot on.

The new top selling accessory for electric RVs.

That is less than 19 horsepower. Will not keep an RV moving down the road continuously.

No, but it will keep to occupants comfortable while waiting on the side of the road.  Assuming on board generators are removed with the pusher.

Yes, it would. One of those units would power two 50 amp RVs, that is high end service. Or three 30 amp RVs, which is typical of towed units..

Question: Is there something in the air or water on the West coast?

I think the source comes out of TVs and over the Internet, gets into public schools too. Over several generations whatever it is it reaches higher concentration levels and the population suffers.

Some do recover, but this requires strong doses of accountability and personal responsibility consistently applied. Student loans provide a relevant example.

My friends in British Columbia, (who are leaving for Alberta) tell me it's almost as bad there.

It’s in the air at 36,000’. Take a look at my graphic. It’s done as humor, but it’s rather odd that the west coast of Canada and United States do have jet stream currents that look the same quite often.
I’m not saying the Chinese and Russians are drugging the west coast, but it do make me wonder.

The EPA has always green lighted CARB's regulation.  The Clean Air Act allows CA with its' worst in the country ground level ozone levels (smog) to set stricter on-road& and >150 HP off road mobile hazardous & toxic emissions limits.  The EPA has to approve these lower limits however they never have rejected CA except during DJT's term the EPA rejected CA's stricter CAFE standards.  CA sued and Biden's 1st tranche of E.O.'s went back to the Obama rules.  Many states including West Virginia sued the EPA over the Obama power plant emissions regulations that DJT reversed them.  Biden reinstate the Obama regulation.  WV's suit eventually reached SCOTUS in the Oct 2021-2022 term and on June 30 2021 the court's opinion was announced.  It is a landmark opinion that set a new doctrine for determining the constitutionality of executive branch regulations, the Major Questions doctrine.  This was the 1st chance Chief Justice Roberts got to rain in executive powers he had been complaining about for years.  SCOTUS in June 2023 affirmed the Major Questions Doctrine in Sackett v EPA.  The case parties are the same as an earlier case that set a precedent that declared environmental law that plaintiffs in couldn't challenge the EPA until the EPA fines you for violating their order.  This year in the last week of June SCOTUS published two opinions.  One is Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo which KILLED the Chevron Doctrine which was a clear violation of the Separation of Powers because the doctrine told inferior court judges to assume an executive branch agency's interpretation of an ambiguity in statute is correct.  The opinion in Loper Bright Enterprises tells judges they must do their own work to determine who's interpretation is correct.

P.S.  The bump stock opinion that rejected the ATF's BS rule used the Major Questions Doctrine.

Yep, agree with that.

If you want to find out which states are socialist, poorly thought-out, stupid and anti-American, look no farther than the Blue colored states on the Electoral College map tonight.

All the states still not committed to EC votes are all Blue states.
I'm going to bed, but I figure Comrade Harris will be the new prez in 2025.
God help us all.

Because of CA's vehicle purchase use tax many RV dealers in Northern CA deliver RV's in Oregon & NV.  The CA use tax is avoided if the threshold of miles driven or time outside CA is met.  In I took delivery of my motor home in a shopping center UPS store in Reno.  I stored it at my wife's nieces house in Washoe Valley for a couple of years before I re-registered it in CA.  The only disadvantage was the 2nd year registration in NV was twice that in CA.

I doubt that CA has changed the thresholds for a RV to be exempt from use tax.  For long time CA residents you may remember in the 90's CA charged an emissions tax for used 49 state vehicles.  A San Diego based class action law firm recruited a friend of a partner to sue CA in federal court and requested class action status.  CA lost and paid the law firm big bucks.  The state besides paying for defense lawyers & expert witnesses  paid the plaintiffs lawyers & 300 million to people who paid the emissions tax on 49 state vehicles.  The state lost because of the supremacy clause. and there is no federal statute that allows states to charge a fee for registering a used vehicle that had been registered in another state.  Such a law would have to apply to every state or violate the equal protection section of the 14th Amendment.

Up early and wonderfully surprised and happy that trump won.

By popular vote America rejected communism.  But not by much.  That should scare the crap out of every sane American.

Equally unsurprising is the amount of new bond debt on CA property owners.  All the renters who voted for this feel-good manure will be getting a wake-up call when their rents go up.

After owning two homes in CA I wouldn’t own property in that state. My last hitch there was 3.5 years and I rented. I got lucky and got an 1800 ft home with a 2 car garage for a reasonable  $2,650 per month.

We own property here in CA because it is paid for, and has Prop 13 property tax protections.
When the voters strip Prop 13 protections, we will leave.
I expect my property taxes will increase to some $27,000 per year.

As of today, it is far more frugal for us to live in CA in our current circumstances, than it is to pick up and move.
I figure I have about 11+ years left to live, so it is pretty pointless to pick up and move then croak.
