WELCOME!!!

And don’t pay no attention to Imis!!  He’s been described by people of good taste, when wearing his hat, as looking like…

“an umbrella with a fat stick!!”

Welcome, I'm sure a lot of us here are crap with computers-especially me! Just browse around, get in a couple discussions and enjoy, hard to find a better group of people that the pards and pardettes here, we can answer most questions, so research and ask away....you will get some excellent well informed answers and yes some dumb, sarcastic(me-guilty) ones as well, all in fun here

If hats were sold by the size and material, IMIS would be wearing a million dollar hat..... :)

Welcome to The Wire.

What part of PRK are you prisoner in?

Have you attended any shoots yet?

Buy NOTHING, until you have attended a few shoots and done a hands on live fire!

Not sure what PRK means yet but I bet I’ll learn.  I’ve not attended a shoot, but I am awfully tempted by the classified section. Thanks for the sound advice!

Good advice above, to not buy anything until you've visited a shoot or two and have a good idea of what really works and what is mostly personal preference.  Not that that is "bad", but can get expensive as one learns more.   When I started, the 1873 rifle was mostly used by folks that were more interested in fitting in an earlier part of the "cowboy era",, not going for all out speed.  As a well tuned Marlin 1894 or Winchester/Rossi 1892 were better suited.  However with the advent of short stroke kits for the toggle links, that's largely reversed itself..  I always suggest making prior contact with the folks running the matches local to you, to express an interest and introduce yourself as "new" and get details on exactly when & where matches are held.

As a former resident, "PRK" usually translates to "People's Republik of Commeifornia."   Sometimes a not-so-humorous tongue-in-cheek slur on that left coast domicile.  The sting should be taken out a little when made by another such resident.

Be careful in the classifieds. There are a lot of scammers running rampant in there. Double check with the SASS office on the alias and SASS number of a seller before plunking down your money. There are pinned posts at the top of the classifieds with some hints.

Sounds like great advice. Didn’t realize I could check on a seller with the SASS office. that could really come in handy however, if the folks I’ve contacted here are scammers They’re not very good. Can’t even get one to answer my message. They go unread for weeks and then the members turn into ghosts. Perhaps I’m  asking all the wrong questions or maybe they’re the right questions.?

Have you found what youre looking for? Did you have questions?

I’ve just been reading and absorbing information. I have an old model single six that got me started down the rabbit hole and now I’m wavering between a solid woods gun like a new model Blackhawk or a vintage shooter like an old model flat top. Some of the Colt SAA clones are interesting as well. All in good time I guess and all in good fun!

In all fairness, I haven’t really given it much of a chance but not much luck with the two members I have contacted. Happy you’ve had a better luck pard!

Welcome!

Double-posting happens. Also called a double-tap. It happens more often if on a slow Internet connection. Just go into the second post, find the three dots to the upper right, and choose "edit." Change the post and the subject line to something like: "Double-tap, sorry, please delete." Then go back to the three dots and choose "report." And ask for the post deletion. No problem.

As to both buyers and sellers, look at the post count. Someone with very few posts is unknown. You are reaching  couple dozen posts, enough to establish genuine engagement on this site. Someone with hundreds of posts has been here a while. While any count is no guarantee of trustworthiness or lack thereof, it does provide a gut check. Also read the sticky posts in the for-sale section, particularly about never posting personal information publicly and conducting the entire transaction by PM, not email.
