Fordyce Beals
My club asked me to investigate getting new shot timers. Does anyone have information on the manufacture of the timers used at Bordertown? The connectivity to the scoring tablet was a great feature. Eyesa Horg
We used borrowed/donated ones at a State match this summer and it sure was clean and efficient.
La Sombra
@Hoss @El Catorce @Totes Magoats should be able to help. The Texas Riviera Pistoleros are the only club that I've shot at that uses this setup. La Sombra
Totes Magoats
Most scoring systems will accept a BlueTooth timer. We use Practiscore with the Comp Electronic ProTimer BT. Works great, just hit the stop watch button on the scoresheet and it transfers the time. Score keeper only enters penalties. It also will send the shot string split times for all recorded shots, kinda neat. We've been using them a couple years now and really like'm. Crisco
The AMG Lab Commanders seem to work really well with Kindles running Practiscore. 2

We have been using the AMG Commanders and they seem to be the best with connectivity. One club in area uses Comp electronics latest models and signal is always disconnecting. We have never had and connection issues with the AMG's. 4
Chief Rick
I use an AMG Lab Commander paired to one tablet and a Competition Electronics timer paired to another, both tablets are running PractiScore. Both work well, I'd be hard pressed to say one is better than the other. I think it comes down to availability (one is readily available, the other...) and personal preference. Both timers were easily paired with its respective tablet. The CED timer uses replaceable batteries, the AMG uses a rechargeable battery.

Rather vice versa (at least CED7000 and such) I use and own an AMG Lab Commander paired with PractiScore. It's the latest model with the OLED which is a great improvement to the LCD. Oddly enough, only the old LCD version seems to be displayed on their website... While my old big blue CE Pocket Pro II ate a lot of those 9V blocks, I haven't replaced the AMG's 4 AAAs since I've bought it over a year ago. Of course, you could also use rechargeable cells. Imho, the main features of the AMG are (in order of importance): Very readable time one that big bright display (OLED) Loud beep BT connectivity to my tablet or phone never failed; once paired to a device, it always reconnects when turned on Small handy size but still a good ergonomic grip (with great silicone sleeve) 5 completely individual presets; I use one for CAS, one for IPSC with reduced sensitivity, one for practice with beep delay, one for dry firing with quiet beep After last shot you can press a button to stop recording further shots or noise No reset needed between sequences (some CEDs require a reset) Edited November 5, 2024 by Equanimous Phil 3
Marshal Fire, SASS 10064
I just received my AMG timer and have yet to use it. Only comment I would make is it took AMG over 15 months to fill the order. Emailed them about the order twice and never received a reply. Truly thought that I was out of my money so was very surprised when it showed up yesterday.

The CE is bigger than the AMG, but it's the same size as all of the other CE timers we've been using over the past decade so I don't find that a problem. Don Jorge
We use the Comp Electronic BT timer with CAS . There has been very good acceptance for this.. It eliminates an entry error at that point. We have found that the Bluetooth range from timer to iPad is about 15-20 yards, which is ok. Matthew Duncan
Wolff’s Rowdy Rangers use AMG timers paired with Amazon Fire tablets ($65). Just be prepared to wait a year for delivery. IMHO worth the wait. Edited November 8, 2024 by Matthew Duncan
