Does this still exist?

When I was a callow ute, my mama had a waffle iron. It was about a foot square, and it was hinged. Obviously. When you opened it up you had about two square feet of cooking surface.

 

The cooking plates were removable and reversible, and the back side was smooth. So if you put the waffle side down, and you had the thing open, you pretty much had a two square foot griddle. And that's how Mama made pancakes.

 

I don't ever remember her making waffles, but she made pancakes on that thing every Sunday morning.

 

A few months ago I was feeling nostalgic, and thought I would see about purchasing one. As best as I can tell, they no longer exist. There are many waffle irons. They're even a few that have reversible plates, but the backside is not flat. It just has a pattern on it. So you can make Halloween jack-o'-lantern waffles or Valentine's heart waffles or Garbage like that.

 

Does anyone know if they make a waffle iron that reverses and can be used as a griddle?

A friend of my folks was a singer and actor and took her out on a date to a fancy restaurant.  She was into her Batman / Catwoman role, ordered streak blood rare and ate it with fingers and teeth only.  I don't believe there was a second date.  Fun story, he had some.
