Going to shoot my first match tomorrow and all I can think of is...

I got interested in CAS when I retired. All my shooting buddies were gone. Mary went along. I didn't think too much about it.  I figured she liked the outing and lunch out. But I got the vibe that maybe she wanted to shoot.  So I asked her. Yeah.  So guns and leather later she started with 38s. But later evolved into 44WCF.  She had accumulated two pair of 38/357 Cattleman.  Numerous Marlin 1894s. But only one shotgun - a Stoger Uplander 12 gauge.  She never missed with it.  Sawmill Mary and Hickock Holly both shot their first clean match the same match.

The very first stage I was a wee bit nervous, since the last time I competed against a timer was probably 25 years ago, IDPA. I think. I even missed one round from the pistol - 10 YARDS...😁 Egads.

But seriously, it was a great time, and I took third place on the Cowboy division. I think there were three people...honestly, it doesn't matter, I have a pin to put on my hat. I met some neat people, and had a great time, and my wife tolerated the whole thing.

Awesome! That's what it's all about! Welcome aboard!

One thing was funny - the gift for coming was an insulated lunch sack. I just so happened to really NEED an insulated lunch sack! Gotta love it.

Oh, a photo from the second to last stage. My posse, and thoughtfully Colt Laredo put me with a LOT of very experienced shooters.

Well, I made no egregious errors, was complemented on my safety, and had a great time!!

Great looking vest.  I'm shooting my first match later this month.  Fortunately I have competed before in IPSC so I'm aware of the "buzzer affect".  LOL.  Still nervous which is a good thing.

Thank you - I am VERY lucky that Wild West Mercantile is right around the corner from Rio Salado Sportsman's Club, so to speak, so I was able to try on several until I found a vest that fit right. That is a nice place with some very nice people there. I foresee spending more money there - I have to keep up with the name, after all! :D

I stop at Wild West Mercantile annually to shop.  This year I have a $50 gift certificate given to me at Bordertown to spend. (Thanks, Claudia Feather for your continuing support of SASS.)  I shop WWM's bargain bin.  Most of the trousers I wear at CAS matches came from the bargain bin.
