Captain Bill Burt Posted October 30, 2024 Author Posted October 30, 2024 I haven’t priced buckles yet but 4-5 should do it. Maybe you could get Midnight Rider to try Frontiersman? 1 Quote
DeaconKC Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Good luck to you all! Hope to see you at a couple of the events! Quote

If that were a legal category yes, but last I checked gunfighter wasn’t a legal style in Frontiersman. 25 minutes ago, Captain Bill Burt said: I haven’t priced buckles yet but 4-5 should do it. Preacherman Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 I know that Frontiersman gunfighter isn't a sass category, but the best of both! The Florida international BP shoot offered it. I was looking, is Frontier Cartridge just 1 category? If so can you shoot Frontier Cartridge, Gunfighter style? Quote

The BP styles are all rolled up into one for The Mag Seven. I doubt we could talk all the state matches into allowing Frontiersman Gunfighter if they would I’m game for that. Quote

Now I suppose we could just register as FCGF at the matches and have a gentleman’s (or gentlelady’s) agreement to shoot C&B revolvers. Now to find 2-3 more to shoot in the Mag 7 Frontiersman Gunfighter category… Edited October 30, 2024 by Tyrel Cody 1 Quote
Scarlett Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 If Y’all shoot FCGF, I’ll join you and shoot the Open Category. Let’s see if we can’t get a bunch of new sign ups for ANY Frontier Cartridge Category and Frontiersman!! I’ll come up with a SPECIAL Dark Side prize! Hugs! Scarlett 1 2 Quote
Captain Bill Burt Posted October 30, 2024 Author Posted October 30, 2024 I will honor that sort of gentleman’s agreement. That gets you to three. I bet you can get one more! Tyrel I have a set of Navies in .44 set up by Goon Gunworks I can loan to Midnight Rider if that will help. Quote

Unless Frontiersman is offered (I really don't like shooting duelist as much). You can shoot fc gunfighter with c&b guns if you want. Quote

Preacherman Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 Only 4 pair??? I won't tell ya how many I have, but it's a number between 7 and 9. And with various interchangeable barrel lengths = +10 more possibilities. Wow, I never figured this out before. I think that I have a problem. Maybe it's time to sell some. Yikes! 2 Quote

Krazy Kajun Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 So @Captain Bill Burt if someone shoots FCGF in the required number of Mag 7 matches is he shooting in Gunfighter or Frontier Cartridge category in the Mag 7...or are they included in both? Quote

Great question. Someone shooting FCGF in three matches has qualified for Frontier Cartridge, or Gunfighter or Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter (if we have that category) but ONLY for one. 1 minute ago, Will Kane said: I scrolled to this about a half second after I thought to myself, "I wonder if Cowtown Scout will be going to this." Of course I will be doing this with my travels. I have not shot in South Carolina, Alabama or Georgia yet, so this works well for me. Just need some more Classic Cowboys to step up and shoot the M7 also. 1 Quote
Woodchuck Willy 114613 Posted October 30, 2024 Posted October 30, 2024 This seems like a whole bunch of fun! I got to check the calendar and vacation schedule to see if I can make enough matches to be involved. Oh, I guess I better start loading up some of that Smokey stuff and practicing this whole gunfighter business. I'm thinking of going to Frontier cartridge gunfighter next year. 2 Quote

Cahawbakid Posted October 31, 2024 Posted October 31, 2024 I’m in for Frontiersman, maybe that’s enough to make aCatagory 1 Quote
Captain Bill Burt Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 We have 5 Frontiersman so that is now a category. I’m working on buckle design now. I think this year’s buckles are going to be the best yet. 1 Quote
Captain Bill Burt Posted October 31, 2024 Author Posted October 31, 2024 FYI this is a one man operation (other than much appreciated help from Tyrel with the website). Anyone who would like to mention the Mag 7 at monthly matches, or even print out applications and hand them out at matches please feel free. This thing may really take off in 2025. I already have over a dozen commitments and interest from shooters as far away as Indiana, Michigan and Texas. Just a reminder, you do NOT have to be from the Southeast region to compete and win. This competition is open to ALL SASS members. 2 1 Quote
