Magnificent 7 participant pin

If you would like to shoot a category that isn't listed, please write it in on the app.  If I get enough interest in a category to cover a buckle we'll add it.

All Around Cowboy requirements.  All Around Cowboy participants must shoot three matches utilizing three of the following four shooting styles: Traditional, Duelist, Gunfighter and Outlaw.  Participants may compete in All Around Cowboy AND a 'typical' category if they shoot enough qualifying matches.  For example, @Badlands Bob #61228 could shoot three matches Gunfighter, and two matches using two of the other three shooting styles (Duelist, Traditional or Outlaw) and he would be eligible for both the Gunfighter AND All Around Cowboy buckle.

Last year was a lot of fun.  We had right at 60 competitors.  I'm hoping for more this time.

Frontiersman? I'm in!!!!

Frontiersman gunfighter did you say?

If that were a legal category yes, but last I checked gunfighter wasn’t a legal style in Frontiersman.

I haven’t priced buckles yet but 4-5 should do it.

Maybe you could get Midnight Rider to try Frontiersman?

He might!

I know that Frontiersman gunfighter isn't a sass category, but the best of both! The Florida international BP shoot offered it. I was looking, is Frontier Cartridge just 1 category? If so can you shoot Frontier Cartridge, Gunfighter style?

Yes, FCGF is all I shoot. The BP styles are all rolled up into one for The Mag Seven. I doubt we  could talk all the state matches into allowing Frontiersman Gunfighter if they would I’m game for that.

Now I suppose we could just register as FCGF at the matches and have a gentleman’s (or gentlelady’s) agreement to shoot C&B revolvers. Now to find 2-3 more to shoot in the Mag 7 Frontiersman Gunfighter category…

If Y’all shoot FCGF, I’ll join you and shoot the Open Category.  Let’s see if we can’t get a bunch of new sign ups for ANY Frontier Cartridge Category and Frontiersman!! I’ll

come up with a SPECIAL Dark Side prize!

Hugs!

I will honor that sort of gentleman’s agreement. That gets you to three. I bet you can get one more! Tyrel I have a set of Navies in .44 set up by Goon Gunworks I can loan to Midnight Rider if that will help.

Oh, if you can shoot any style, then FC it is and I'll do Gunfighter. Unless Frontiersman is offered (I really don't like shooting duelist as much). You can shoot fc gunfighter with c&b guns if you want.

Thanks for the offer, but I’ve got 4 pair of C&B revolvers(yes I’m a little crazy).

Only 4 pair??? I won't tell ya how many I have, but it's a number between 7 and 9. And with various interchangeable barrel lengths = +10 more possibilities. Wow, I never figured this out before. I think that I have a problem. Maybe it's time to sell some. Yikes!

Great question.  Someone shooting FCGF in three matches has qualified for Frontier Cartridge, or Gunfighter or Frontier Cartridge Gunfighter (if we have that category) but ONLY for one.

Of course I will be doing this with my travels.  I have not shot in South Carolina, Alabama or Georgia yet, so this works well for me.  Just need some more Classic Cowboys to step up and shoot the M7 also.

This seems like a whole bunch of fun!   I got to check the calendar and vacation schedule to see if I can make enough matches to be involved.

Oh, I guess I better start loading up some of that Smokey stuff and practicing this whole gunfighter business.

I'm thinking of going to Frontier cartridge gunfighter next year.

Ya know, I'm finally scheduled to retire December 31, and just the other night, my dear wife was suggesting we go on a post-retirement extended road trip. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

FYI this is a one man operation (other than much appreciated help from Tyrel with the website). Anyone who would like to mention the Mag 7 at monthly matches, or even print out applications and hand them out at matches please feel free.

This thing may really take off in 2025. I already have over a dozen commitments and interest from shooters as far away as Indiana, Michigan and Texas.

Just a reminder, you do NOT have to be from the Southeast region to compete and win. This competition is open to ALL SASS members.

My wife, Whiskey Belle is looking for enough ladies to join her to make Lady Wrangler a category this year.  Let me know if anyone is in.

Thanks!

Not sure which matches we’re gonna make other than we know we’re gonna do Mississippi State. He’s got decent a job now so have adjust accordingly. I’m gonna try to make SC State again too.
