Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
A few months after the armistice, the military police captured an "atomic scientist" in Bremen and sent him to the United States. There, they began to question him every day about his knowledge of nuclear physics. However, unlike most other German scientists who generally had no objection to writing a report on their war work, this man was reluctant. He claimed to know nothing about it and insisted that he was not a scientist, but a tailor. For a long time, no one wanted to believe him, until, finally, someone, growing impatient, had the idea of putting needle, thread and fabric in his hands. "If you are a tailor, prove it." His mastery in making shirts and trousers for the guards finally made them suspect that he was telling the truth. And so it turned out that he had been kidnapped across the ocean only because by chance his name was Jordan. He had been mistaken for Pascual Jordan, the famous theoretical nuclear physicist, former disciple of Max Born. 1 2 3
