Flaco Joe Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 I’ve seen adds and watched some YouTube videos on the new Heritage Coachwhip shotgun that is a double barrel with exposed hammers. It looks taylor-made for CAS. Has anyone handled one yet? From what I see, they are retailing for about $830 but no one has one in stock. Quote
Whitey James Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Just watched a video on it. looks pretty nice and less expensive than some of the other hammer coaches out there. Quote

Buckshot Bear Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 How bad is it on the action to let both barrels go at the same time? Quote
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted October 28, 2024 Posted October 28, 2024 Since it's a New Kid on the Block, and nobody has one, and no one has shot one for any length of time, How, pray tell would anybody know?? Seems a silly question. Quote

Usually nothing if the gun is in good condition, of recent manufacture and not a regular occurrence. A friend found an old Stevens double in his attic when he moved in to his last house. He had it worked on/cleaned up by a retired Stevens smith. He fired it for a bit, and every so often both barrels would go off at the same time. He made it a wall hanger as he didn't want to spend any more money on fixing it. Quote

The sentence in bold is the only question that Flaco Joe asked. Doesn't seem silly at all, and sounds pretty straight forward. 1 1 Quote

Dallas McBoomboom Posted February 17 Posted February 17 Okay, so I was able to get one in my paws at a local gun shop the other day. Honestly, if I'd brought more money along, I'd have left with it. Action was very smooth, barrels dropped right open, safety was completely independent of any cocking or firing action, the hammers were very light and easy to cock one handed with what I call the "reverse karate chop", and the finish was surprisingly well done. In my opinion, it did not feel nor operate anywhere near what popped into my head when I heard "heritage hammered double", which frankly evinced ideas of the type of fit and finish you've all seen in the rough rider, which, let's be honest feel cheap, clunky, and rough. I plan on picking one up and getting the usual cowboy action job done on it, and put it through the field test. I wish the hammer ears were a tad longer, but if that's the worst it offers, I think it'll find a home for a lot of price conscious cowboys. Hope that helps outc anyone looking! Dallas 4 3 Quote

Rooster Ron Wayne Posted February 19 Posted February 19 Heritage is becoming Taurus's Cowboy Gun Division. Hence the ( Rossi ) Heritage 92 rifle that everyone thinks is a new gun on the market. Taurus has owned Rossi for many years now . They are just moving brands around. A good Marketing Strategy at this time . With all the new Tariffs that are coming Heritage is a USA company in Florida that Taurus owns . 1 1 Quote
Dallas McBoomboom Posted February 19 Posted February 19 So I swung back in and picked this gal up. It's in the single digits here in Indiana (in Midwest terms this means button up your vest, but not quite big coat weather), but if I get a little time between work and trying to catch up on bullet orders I'll go put her through her paces box stock, and then see about getting her slicked up and do it again. 3 Quote

Sc0- Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Just picked one up; *Made by Khan/Kayhan in Turkey *Metal to wood fit is serviceable, (for the price point.) *Action is smooth opening/closing *Triggers feel a little gummy *Rebounding hammers *No half cock *Fixed chokes *Checkering is comfortable and matches your worn Grandpa's shotgun **Can pull both triggers at the same time 1 2 Quote

Whitey James Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Turkey had been making some really quality guns for years. I would not hesitate to buy a firearm manufactured there. I'd prefer it to China any day. Quote
Dapper Dave Posted February 22 Posted February 22 Turkey has been making guns since before we were a country. They have some experience. Quote
