Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Tuning a new Ruger Marlin Model Model 94. I ordered one of the Ranger Point Marlin triggers to give it a try. It is about .005" too wide to fit into the trigger housing. Anyone else have a problem with the Ranger Point trigger? Did they fix the problem? Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Yes, I watched the video before I ordered it. They are not open right now. Hopefully they will respond tomorrow. Just wanted to see if this is a known problem.

H.G. Wells
I purchased one of their triggers a few years back and it dropped right in, and worked great. I decided to purchase another one for a different rifle, and it was too wide. I filed on it until I was able to get in. After It was installed, The hammer would not go to full cock by levering the rifle. However, I could bring it to full cock by manually cocking the hammer. I reinstalled the factory trigger and it worked as it should. I contacted Ranger Point, and they said that Marlins vary because they were hand fitted. They said to correct the problem, they could sell me a hammer and trigger package which is expensive. I decided to stay with the factory trigger. I would not say this is (always) a drop in part. Ranger Point did offer a refund. Edited October 28 by H.G. Wells
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Update. Their system seems to be automated and after a little fooling around "they" said to send it back. While waiting for my claim to be "evaluated" I got antsy and decided to try and fit the trigger. I am toying with the idea of writing an article for the Chronicle on tuning the new Ruger Marlin using only drop-in parts. I have over 100 photos already shot. The tune went amazingly well. I could not believe the difference in the rifle. One thing I did/do not like is the floppy stock trigger. I have not shot a Marlin in at least ten years and I kept pinching my finger. I thought I would try the Ranger Point to see if that helped. The trigger was too wide for the trigger housing. I did manage to get it to fit but it was definitely not drop-in and I expect a lot of people would ruin the extremely tiny spring that holds the sear to the top of the trigger while trying to fit the trigger. I am waiting for more information from Ranger Point but right now I would not include it in the article as it was not a drop-in in the brand new Ruger Marlin. Whenever people ask me if a part is drop-in I always tell tell them it is drop-in until it does not. That is went a smith earns their money. Making those "drop-in" parts work. One other item. The stock trigger pull was over four pounds. With the tune-up parts and the stock trigger it was a delightful 1 lb 10 ounces. Ranger Point notes if you install a lighter hammer spring their trigger pull could get too light. After I got the Ranger Point trigger installed the trigger pull was down to less than 10 ounces. This was a tad too light for me and I expect for a lot of other shooters.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933
Just got this reply from Ranger Point. "Hello and thanks for reaching out to us. As far as the Marlin trigger is concerned, we are currently chasing a good fit. One guy says it's too loose. The next says it's too tight. It's been like this since August 2023." 1
