Subdeacon Joe
A few years ago I signed up for vote by mail because I loathe the parking at my polling place. Got our ballots last Thursday, had them in the mail Saturday. Got this email late last night and a text message this morning. "This is a message from the California Secretary of State on behalf of Sonoma County Registrar of Voters. Your ballot for the November 5, 2024, General Election was received and counted. Thank you for voting!"

I'll tell ya, with our same day registration at the polls it's been real tempting to see how many polling places I could vote at.
Wallaby Jack, SASS #44062
down-under this side of the fishin' hole we are REQUIRED to vote; and when you do so you get your name marked off as having done so. it is not only against the law to not vote it is also against the law to vote more than once at each election. they actually check all the "mark-off" books to make sure that you not only showed up to vote, but also that you only did it once. fines apply !!! mail-in voting is available now but you must pre-register for it 🙃
watab kid
im going to early vote this year for the first time , i never did that before because i believed it to be way to stuff the ballot box that didnt seem necessary , i still think in person the day of to be a perfectly good system , i also believe IDs should be needed - when we [the US] oversaw elections in other countries we went to great lengths to see that they were fair and honest , one vote per citizen - dip your finger in permanent ink to prevent fraud , why not here ? just asking ..... im all for every citizen getting to vote , i believe in that and let the chips fall where they may , Edited October 18 by watab kid 2
Subdeacon Joe
Oh, the humor of it! In the mail today we received a notification from the Registrar of Voters telling us of our options for early voting and ballot drop boxes. And people whine about how it's too hard to vote or they don't have the time.
Forty Rod SASS 3935
I came out of the local library a couple of weeks ago and there was a tent with five people gathering signatures for some proposal that was going to be on the ballot. They asked if I would sign the petition and I told them that I already had. Then I said (I almost always have something to say, especially if I can get reaction) that I couldn't sign it again because I wasn't an illegal alien, a Democrat, or dead. Two of the five people laughed, two ignored me and one woman damn near took my head off. I grinned at her and asked "did that hit a nerve" and she replied with a three word barracks-style comment that my mother wouldn't have understood nor approved of. As I walked away some of the others were trying to calm her hysterics. I've been back twice since and she isn't there any more. 1 1

I always ask to see the text. They always try to explain it to me in general terms. I'll ask again, again get an explanation. "Sorry. You're trying to hide something and mislead people."
Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984
I opted to vote at the polls and ask for a ride. It’s nearby, I could walk there actually.
