Walking out of a toy store today in Tucson Az....

Recommended Posts

Today when I walked out of a toy store (gun shop) in Tucson, I was greeted by a nice elderly woman asking if I would like to sign her petition.  I'm pretty careful about signing a petition due to the language often used here in Az is or can be misleading.  So my curiosity got the best of me and I said "let me take a look".  I asked what her petition was all about more than once.  Finally when I looked at the "petition", it merely had some nice 2A wording at the top and then lines and spaces across the page for name, address, email and cell number.  She told me that AARP was sponsoring(paying) her being there and that it was to show support for 2A activities.   I'm pretty careful about handing out my information, so I declined.

I'm not a member of AARP and I've never heard that they were pro 2A.  Why they were collecting personal info outside of a gun shop,  who knows.

In searching for info for the petition @Buckeye Pete, SASS # 29941mentioned above I came across this interesting news. Elon Musk just went up a few points in my opinion.

Oh, I didn’t find anything regarding that AARP petition.

The latest info I can find, (from 2013), has them wanting to strengthen the Brady Background Laws. In many other things, they seem to lean far to the left. That's why I'm a member of AMAC.

BTW, which store were they at?

Sgt. it was Turner's on Pima.

I don't like to be rude to little old ladies...or anyone else except some people who really deserve it... but I would simply tell her "No thanks!" and walk away.

AARP is a far left wing group that wants to sell you insurance and take away your rights.

I joined AMAC recently.

When I turned 55 AARP badgered me relentlessly. One day I called their Customer Service and raised a little hell. I didn’t give the lady that answered too hard of a time as she was just doing her job. I told her I wanted to be removed from their mailing list and call list. She said they would take care of it. They did not. The badgering continued.
One day my boss, a dyed in the wool Democrat and a member of AARP, tossed a flyer that had the names of all the AARP management team on it. I took it. Within 2 days of searching I got contact email and phone numbers for several people on that list.
I sent an email to all of them at once and CC’d the CEO. I told them, very politely, that I would sooner set myself on fire than join their  liberal cabal and that if they kept harassing me I would hire an attorney and sue them.
I expected some smarmy response, but what I got was a phone call from one of the executive’s assistants. I was told they had my contact info and they would never call, text or send me anything through the mail now or in the future.
They have honored their word. I gotta give them credit for that. I guess I pushed the right buttons.

AARP started badgering me two months before I turned 50.

I started putting "return to sender" on their mailers and dropped them back in the box.

Their junk mail has diminished considerably but not 100%. To hell with them.

I'll look into AMAC though.

https://www.aarp.org/health/conditions-treatments/info-2018/dementia-alzheimers-disease-guns-safety.html

A group of physicians and public health experts recommended this week that families of those with Alzheimer’s disease or another form of dementia should have a talk about when they should give up their guns.

https://www.americanrifleman.org/content/does-the-aarp-still-want-your-guns/#:~:text=“AARP policy does not "ban, and other federal gun laws.

“AARP policy does not "ban all guns." Our policy targets only inappropriate gun purchasers, not responsible citizens. Here is the statement passed by our Board of Directors:

“Congress should eliminate gaps in and strengthen enforcement of the Brady Handgun Violence Prevention Act and other federal gun laws. States should enact legislation to eliminate gaps in, and strengthen enforcement of, federal and state gun laws, particularly with regard to possession by juveniles, convicted domestic abusers and those under domestic violence restraining orders.

https://www.buckeyefirearms.org/aarp-supports-keeping-seniors-defenseless

At this time, the Board of Directors has recently restated AARP policy to reduce misunderstanding and better fit the current legal environment on this issue. We do continue to support careful measures to restrict the availability of handguns to certain populations. Yet, our policy does not preclude responsible citizens who are educated in gun safety from gun ownership.

However...

My bold. Yes, there is that word "however." AARP supports the 2nd but...

that raises the hair on the bacck of my neck , dont trust anything like that , im ok with AARP suddenly becoming pro 2A but i dont believe it yet , they have leaned way to liberal for too long for my liking so no my wife and i are not AARP members , when the quit supporting democrat candidates ill consider reconsideration of that , id be happier if they didnt support either just stood for the seniors

Had an interesting idea about junk mail.    I took the contents of the Columbia Music House and stuffed it into the AARP envelope.  Apparently AARP doesnot like music as they quit sending me mail.   Plus Columbia Music must not 50 yrs ago and not interested in AARP            Regards      GW

I joined AMAC about 20 years ago and have never regretted it for a second.

And that gets translated in the news as

"Gun owners support more gun restrictions.  "
