Charlie Harley, #14153 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Never seen them before but they’re showing up on the Olympic Peninsula. The iPhone catches them better than the eye but they’re still really cool even with unaided vision.
Hardpan Curmudgeon SASS #8967 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 The "OP" up and moved to Tennessee...?

Pat Riot Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 My photo from last night off my front porch. I couldn’t see any color with my glasses eyes. It only showed on my iPhone, which usually takes pizz poor night shots. I am not convinced this is the Aurora. It could be ambient light the camera picked up. In my opinion, if one needs a camera to see it the Aurora is not technically “visible”. < my opinion.
Pulp, SASS#28319 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 From southern Oklahoma. About a mile north of that river what separates Texans from good folks!
Linn Keller, SASS 27332, BOLD 103 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Tried to see it last night. Got some nice skyglow but not convinced it was the Aurora. Will try for the comet come sundown.
Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 We not only get to see them, but when we're snowmobiling in the country side on cold winter nights, you can hear them crackle. Weird when you first experience it.

Haven't been back up there at the right time since 1970. Where do we look for the comet?

Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Not really sure. Sharon has an app on her phone that locates celestial events that we use. I will ask when she gets home and let you know. Douglas Pass is about 55-60 miles north and west of Grand Junction. Headed towards Rangely/Dinosaur area. Regards Gateway Kid

watab kid Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 the best view i ever had of it was sitting on a rock point of a fly in lake in canada , it was alive and gorgeous ,
Gateway Kid SASS# 70038 Life Posted October 12, 2024 Posted October 12, 2024 Howdy 4T Just checked with Sharon. From our perspective the comet will be almost due west from Grand Junction. It will be visible to us about an hour after sunset with best viewing yesterday and progressively fading out in the next couple weeks. Hope that helps Gateway Kid
