Pat Riot Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 @Colorado Coffinmaker this should help. When I was in boot camp we had open faced lockers. We stowed everything per boot regs. Everything folded or rolled just so. We were inspected often and often everything we owned in the world was tossed and strewn about because one “Rock” or “Maggot” didn’t follow instructions or pay attention to detail. Toward the end we had seabag inspections similar to this. Good Times! 2 Quote
Sedalia Dave Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Notice the hammocks tied up and hoisted to the ceiling. Wonder what's in them to make them look like there is a dead body inside. Quote

In Great Lakes it was “Awe Sh**! They’re doing it again!” They were really nice about it once they were done messing up our (stuff). They gave us a whole 10 minutes to clean it up and get our (stuff) squared away. (stuff) = Sh** 1 Quote

(stuff) = Sh** It didn't happen to my company, but one day mattresses ended up outside the barracks. Our barracks were three-story units. Males were on the first and second decks, females on the third. Not sure where they came from. That's a question you only asked if you wanted yours to end up outside. 1 2 Quote
Ozark Huckleberry Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 (edited) AOCS, one Drill Instructor had a trick of taking the trigger group out of the M1s in lockers that had been left unsecured while the class was out of the spaces. When they came back, he'd call the class on line for rifle drill. We learned quickly that when he started with, 'Right shoulder -- ARMS', and then went to 'Port -- ARMS', there were going to be a few candidates worked down to a puddle after they were left with two pieces connected by a sling. That was when he didn't want to deal with tossing the entire class. Another trick with unsecured lockers -- use the corner of the locker's metal trim on the door to punch a hole in the can of shave cream, toss it into the locker, close the door. Widder, SASS #59054 Posted October 11, 2024 Posted October 11, 2024 Chief Rick, I was at Orlando summer of 69. I was either a 'slug' or a 'maggot' when a spec of 'invisible' dust was found on my t-shirt collar. I had to crawl around the barracks floor....... circular, on my elbows. Those inspectors put the fear of God in me when they showed up. One funny story: Although I didn't look like Gomer Pyle, I could imitate him when I said.... "GOLLY". (Gaaawwwleeee). Being from Tennessee, I had the right slang. Our CC ask me to give a 'Golly' to one of the inspectors one day during an inspection. I declined until he assured me that he would be there to prevent any ' physical encounter' that might occur and/or keep me from having to do 50 pushups. Anyhow, here I stand, all 5'9", about 150 lbs, and this tough looking, dog barking, FIRE BREATHING chief is standing in front of me. For sure, he finds something wrong to blame me. I looked him right in the eye and said.... "Gaaawwwleeeee". There was a sudden silence for a brief moment..... then that chief muttered a few words known only to Sailors, looked to his side and saw my CC laughing, and walked off. I would swear that he was doing his best not to laugh or smile. ..........Widder 1 2 Quote
