Rye Miles #13621 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I just put my furnace on, it's 64 degrees in here, too cold for my old bones! It's 50 outside and it's going to be in the 40's at night for the next week for sure. Anyone else?? I'm in NE OHIO.
Eyesa Horg Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Turned mine on last week when the house was down to 65 ! Warm during the day,but upper 30s in the AM.
Cypress Sun Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I saw everyone bundled up at the Tribe game yesterday and though, that must be nice! To the question at hand. NO, it's a extremely muggy/humid 80. It's only 80 because there is cloud cover. Generally, we don't turn on the heat but once or twice a year usually around the end of January/beginning of February.
Tex Jones, SASS 2263 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Here in south central MN, 71 degs today, 80 on Thursday. Mornings are in the mid 40s. Next week highs drop to mid 50s and high 30s and low forties in the morning. So far we're above average in heat and way below average in rain. Hardly any in September and none so far this month.
Hashknife Cowboy Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 We went down to high 30's this morning, I thinking abut it. It will be wood stove first. I'm in denial.....Life at 7000 feet. I gave in this morning, the wood stove started burning wood at 6 Am on Oct 10th.......it has begun. Heaters for the horse troughs will not be far behind...... Snow is finally on the forecast for the evening of the 18th, on the 17th and 18th during the daytime it will be wind and rain. I hope you hunters invested n waterproof and windproof.....
Pat Riot Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 At my house it was foggy and 42 this morning. Indoors it was 66. I put a new filter in the furnace yesterday and gave it a look over. The A/Cs are still in the windows though. It will be upper 60’s here all week in the daytime and low 40’s at night. I sprayed all around the windows and doors yesterday with Stink Bug repellent and killer. This is the time of year the little buggers try to get indoors. If anyone has stink bug issues this stuff truly works and it’s worth every penny. PF Harris will sell direct. Amazon also Carrie’s it but for some reason they say they cannot ship to my location. This item cannot be shipped to your selected delivery location. Please choose a different delivery location. Marshal Mo Hare, SASS #45984 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Haven’t seen nights below 45 yet. 50 years ago had first frost Sept 22.
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 At Sunday's match it was 109. I was feeling a little weak during the fifth and sixth stages.
Choctaw Jack Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Here in NW New Mexico it's gotten down to the mid 40s at night, mid 80s during the day.
Smokin Gator SASS #29736 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 We've still been at 100 lately although the forecast says it starting to cool down this weekend.
Forty Rod SASS 3935 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 We were down to frigid 81 yesterday. Looking at a predicted 85 today. Last night was at 62 and predicted to be 58 today.

Three Foot Johnson Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Night time temps have been in the mid-30's to mid-40's lately, but still "unseasonably warm" for October. I turn the heat on at night, and am getting a supply of firewood cut for the winter.

Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 34F. here last night. 56F. high here today. Trees are showing brilliant fall colours. Nice to take a drive in the Gatineau area right now.. I've shut off and drained the outside taps, threw the breakers and covered the A/C, cleaned, prep'd and covered the BBQ for winter, removed the insect screens from the windows, finished staining and applying wood preservative to the deck, rails, steps etc.. Changed the oil in the mower and added gas stabilizer to the fuel tank, changed the oil in the snowblower, reserved heated winter storage space for HERBIE, made appointments for the snow tire installation on the Caravan and the Forrester. Furnace was serviced and is ready for it's season.

Rip Snorter Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Thermostat set to heat, comes on a bit in the night, not yet in the daytime. Veg Garden did get frosted, but the coldest I've seen in the morning has been 33°. A fantastic Fall so far! Mild temps and lots of sun. Hunters will be sweating.
Sagebrush Burns, SASS # 14226 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Colorado, 6300 ft elev, been low 30s at night for a week now, still mid 70s during the day, and lots of sunshine!
sassnetguy50 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 The furnace is still off. We have run a small space heater for 20 minutes in the bathroom, too old for a cold shower. It is the period of adding a second blanket as the night cools, then it warms up to T-shirt weather during the afternoon. @Cold Lake Kid, SASS # 51474 what model winter tire do you like on your Caravan?
Rye Miles #13621 Posted October 9, 2024 Author Posted October 9, 2024 40’s at night 60’s during the day and sunny. I love this weather. I’ll be cutting the grass later today!
J-BAR #18287 Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Central heat and air conditioning, hot and cold running water, flush toilets... We live better than the richest kings and queens 150 years ago. Stay comfortable and be glad we have thermostats to adjust!🙂
