Had no idea John Taffin had a book out on CAS. I believe it was published in 2021. Has anybody seen it?

I have not seen this one but I have two of his other books. Very well done. The research, the photography, the history, the enthusiasm he puts into his writing is extremely enjoyable.

Warning though... his books will make you want to get out and shoot. 😀

Ah

Must be a reprint edition. I always liked Taffin’s writing.

Was an outdated guide to our game when it was written - the passing of two decades has not made it anymore relevant.

It is a somewhat interesting read solely as a curiosity and examination of a game that no longer exists - but it offers little to nothing to a reader looking for information that may benefit their performance today.

I have it. Creeker is correct. Not relevant anymore. Most CAS books are the same as they were written in the heyday of SASS and much has changed.

I met Taffin at a Tin Star Ranch match 20-some years ago.  He took a picture of the 1901 SAA I was shooting.  Thought maybe I might see it in one of his articles some day but no such luck. :)
