We are working to coordinate bringing supplies into areas affected by Hurricane Helene by pack mule strings. We are planning to head to Weaverville, NC tomorrow, but available to go to other areas of need as well. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this. I saw reports of this on FaceBook, with no clue anyone from here was involved.

 

There are places just a few miles from me, just across the state line, where nobody has been in or out of since the storm. So close and not a damn thing I can do for them.

I found it on FB.  I figured people here would be interested. I'm not involved in it

I was wondering how you were getting your mule from Sonoma to here. Thank you for sharing the information. Wish there was a way to help them directly.

Both groups are on fb however there are dozens of scammers putting up fake FB groups and links to electronic payment apps to scam people. Most have VERY subtle variations on the legitimate group.

Because of this, I suggest that you contact them directly so that both groups can direct you to legitimate links to donate to the relief effort.

Ex NASCAR driver, Greg Biffle, has been flying his own helicopter in and out of the disaster zone, looking for stranded survivors and delivering food/medicine/water/supplies all on his own dime. He has already helped rescue several people. He is also delivering StarLink systems to various locations.

 

A big Hurray to the normal, everyday civilians that are doing everything they can to help out...while the Feds sit on their thumbs wondering what to do.

Yep.  Capons,  wethers,  and burrocrats (sic) more concerned about dotting the Ts and crossing the Is or looking good in the newspapers that getting the job done. 

 

On the other hand, sometimes even Newsom gets things right:

 

"In close coordination with FEMA, the California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (Cal OES) is immediately deploying 151 firefighters and support personnel from California/FEMA US&R Task Force 5, 6, and 8 from the Orange County Fire Authority, Riverside Fire Department, and San Diego Fire Department. The deployment also includes California Swiftwater Task Force 1 from the Los Angeles Fire Department." And PG&E is sending crews to assist with power restoration.
