Dogmeat Dad, SASS #48563L Posted September 28, 2024 Posted September 28, 2024 Her Facebook page said she was without power and it would likely be that way for a week. You may want to try her there.

Black Hills Barb Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Although Scarlett and Tommy did not suffer huge damage, they are without power. The following is what she posted on FB after the storm. Scarlett posted this yesterday (9/27) Update - Power may be out as long as a WEEK! ALL circuits that power Laurens (and many other surrounding areas) are out and the City has requested Mutual Aid… from NC and maybe even Virginia will be needed. Power out - maybe for a while. We are OK. Some roof damage on the brick building where my shop and den are but not anything inside… no signal to post pictures. 100s of trees and power lines across in Laurens County. Our prayers go out to everyone impacted by this storm. Scarlet posted this on earlier today, Saturday We drove around yesterday to charge our phones. The devastation on one street is mind blowing. Power poles broken in half, lines down all over the place. Crews from Andalusia and Muscle Shoals Alabama are here restoring power and crew from Missouri and Ohio are on the way. Florida, you can thank us later that our Governor and Duke Power Co Office and Dominion Energy sent a bunch of SC crews to Florida ahead of the storm. Thank you, Alabama and Missouri and Ohio!
Black Hills Barb Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Yeehaw! Scarlett has posted that the power is back on. I don't know much more than that. Update: Don't get too excited. I just checked her FB again and she has taken it down. Things are a real mess in the Carolinas. Please be patient.
John Kloehr Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 Some roads are opening up. I'm not going there but have been mapping roads out of curiosity and as a check on progress. While there is a lot of focus on Asheville, the entire area is pretty much screwed and some roads will not be back for months or even a year. That said, getting to Asheville from Knoxville would have been about 7 hours this morning; now it is about 2-1/2 hours. Looking Northwest of Asheville, not lots of improvement yet. I'm sure another couple days will help this, mostly folks still need electricity and clean water. At least some grocery stores and gas stations are finally coming back into service.
