❓ Help finding a rule: Coming to the firing line before being called = SDQ?

Recommended Posts

I vaguely think I remember there is a penalty if you come to the firing line before being called by the RO

check SHB and RO manual and can't find it

there is also the possibility there is no rule

a little help, please

There is a rule in the Loading and Unloading Area Conventions:

Quote

Competitors shall not leave the designated loading area with a loaded firearm unless they are called to the stage as the next competitor to begin the stage by the Timer Operator or Expeditor.

page 28 of latest Shooter's Handbook

However, I find no statement of exactly what penalty is to be assessed if this happens.   I assume that the SDQ penalty ties into a similar situation of a shooter leaving the firing line once the stage has been started by timer buzzer.    And the penalty is not listed in the RO Pocket Card.

This rule book oversight is kind of a frequent problem with our rulebook.  If a rule states that a shoot shall not or may not do something, then the penalty needs to be stated RIGHT THERE in the rule.  Almost all the major impact safety penalties are SDQ, so that makes this rule "in line with" the other SDQ penalties, IMHO.

good luck, GJ

There’s no oversight.  “Failure to adhere to loading and unloading procedures” is in the list of SDQs on p. 22.

Look again.

The penalty IS listed on page 28 in the Loading and Unloading Area Conventions:

"Any competitor’s failure to adhere to loading and unloading procedures will result in a penalty of a Stage Disqualification."

...and the penalty IS listed as a SDQ on the "Pocket RO Card" (SHB p.41):
"Not adhering to loading or unloading procedures"
