J-BAR #18287
Several days ago, a casual acquaintance asked if I had any information on an antique handgun he owned. Coincidentally to this thread, it turned out to be a Shattuck Dead Presidents .32 rimfire. I searched Gunbroker and found its twin. https://www.gunbroker.com/item/1066909394 It was a commemorative, with likenesses of Lincoln and Garfield on the grips. I had no idea that they existed. The one I examined was in worse shape than the one pictured. I have no connection to the one being auctioned, just trying to provide some firearms history. 3
Rye Miles #13621
I guess at the time they didn’t have the medical technology to get that little bullet out of the President. He either died from all the drugs they were giving him or an aneurysm. Sad. I believe he would have been one of the top ten best Presidents🇺🇸

Trailrider #896
I don't know if it was the assassin who shot Garfield or the one who shot Mackinley, but one or the other is purported to have said, "I didn't kill the President...his doctors did!" Even Ronald Reagan's ER doctors had a very hard time locating the .22 bullet! Fortunately, they finally did, and he lived.

Really interesting how the cylinder swings out. 1
