Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Well , after many years of tearing my 73 rifle down for cleaning , I finally lost that little steel ball or BB. Anybody have a hint what size it is or where one might find a replacement? I tried looking on Cimarron's site , but the diagrams there were way too crowded to see a part # or name. Seems like someone years ago passed along that a certain shot size would work if one couldn't find the actual part. Any help appreciated. Pointing out that I should have had a bag around the area to avoid the dumbass not helpful at this time. Thanks , Rex
Larsen E. Pettifogger, SASS #32933 Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 Should be a standard 5/32" (.156) ball bearing you can get at ACE. If that is too big for your rifle get a 9/64 (.140).
Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Many thanks , Larsen. Rex
Matthew Duncan Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 If my memory serves me correctly Taylor’s has a parts drawing that is legible.

Thanks , Rex I did the same thing and ordered a 600 piece stainless steel precision ball set from Amazon. The 3.5mm ball worked and there are 60 of them in the set so I can lose it several more times. I don’t remember the price but it wasn’t bad and had free shipping with Prime and now I have plenty of stainless balls. The bigger ones would be fun in a slingshot! Randy

Or you can just keep the dust cover off, the rifle will still work without it. Just my .02 cents.
Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted September 17, 2024 Author Posted September 17, 2024 Thanks to all who answered. Will be checking out the local hardware stores tomorrow. I went ahead and put the rifle together anyway , I have plenty of time between shoots . I average about 4 shoots per year. Thanks again, Rex
Old Man Graybeard Posted September 17, 2024 Posted September 17, 2024 I got several...and extra springs from VTI

I just ordered 2 roll pins and a firing pin spring & extension. Partly because I could see the parts and they had the matching numbers below with the part.
Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted September 19, 2024 Author Posted September 19, 2024 Local shopping was a bust , Have 2 springs and 3 "spheres" headed in from VTI. With my usual luck , I will probably find the original next time I go out to my little shop. Rex
Dusty Devil Dale Posted September 19, 2024 Posted September 19, 2024 Last time I lost one (and Ive lost many!), it turned up a week later stuck to a magnetized screwdriver on the workbench. Yes, it is a magnetic stainless steel alloy-- at least mine was.
Rex M Rugers #6621 Posted September 20, 2024 Author Posted September 20, 2024 I called in my order for the parts on Wednesday, got them in mail today. TWO DAYS !!!!! Almost unbelievable! Thanks , VMI Rex , who could have got by for at least a month.

Randy My father’s company made swimming pool games. We used SS balls for weights in our dive ring game. Seems like there was inventory shrinkage when my friends and I had wrist rockets.
