ORNERY OAF
Ok gang, anyone ever used 32g brass to make 50-90 or 50-70....side by side looks do-able. Just gotta reshape with 50-90 dies, mouth is a little big. Wondering whether I should heat them first? Anybody done this?
Sedalia Dave
Never done it but I definitely suggest annealing the case before resizing and after. If you check the dimension the 32 gage rim and base diameters quite a bit smaller than 50-90. Case head is also thinner so you are going to have to watch load pressures. Rupturing a case would ruin your day. Take a look at the 8X50R Lebel for fire forming into 50-70 or 50-90. The case head is a lot thicker so it will stand up to considerably more pressure than any shotshell case. They are available from Buffalo Arms. Another cartridge for fire forming would be 11X59R. This is the parent case for the 8X50R BTW Star Line Brass is accepting backorders for 50-90.
ORNERY OAF
I've been on the backorder list for a while,lol...from what I understand, they have no intentions of making the odd calibers for the foreseeable future. I'm gonna see how they shape up today when I get home
ORNERY OAF
I will also try heating em up first, thanks!
