Subdeacon Joe
The second play in the video. 1 2
Alpo
Three thoughts Woman - if you want to call the plays, go to umpire school and put on the black suit and get behind the plate. Otherwise shut up. "The umpire was wrong!" Ain't none of your concern. The runner didn't go all the way to first base? Just turned around and went back? Damn he's stupid. He not only needs to be put out, but his team manager needs to fine him several thousand dollars for being stupid. Maybe he won't be so stupid next time. What was that red thing he had in his hand?

Geeze Louise, when did professional athletes turn into such wussies?

What was that red thing he had in his hand? 1 - Agree entirely! 2 - It's called being lackadaisical and lazy. He's in the same category as the guys that don't run after hitting the ball because, A) they are so self absorbed that they want to watch their handiwork, B - they ASSUME that the defense is going to catch or field their hit ball and they'll be out BUT wait, the defensive player missed or C) they really are stupid. 3 _ The red thing is a 'base running glove'. The one in the video could actually could be called a running glove albeit a stretch. Some of them are resemble (ridiculously) the foam hands that the fans wave. The larger, gamer glove is to give them an advantage in stealing bases. During a call challenge (instant replay), those few inches of non-hand oven mitt could make the difference in the outcome of the game.

No different than catchers leg guards. You may have noticed that what catchers wear now is just a little bit different than what they wore it 1960. Also pitch velocity has greatly increased in the last 30 years, even taking into account the difference in where the speed is measured...when it leaves the hand v. neat the plate. When I was young it was rare for the hurlers to attain 100mph, now it's rare to have a pitcher that can't throw a few 100mph pitches in a game. " Every year, MLB pitchers are throwing harder than they were before. In 2007, the average four-seam fastball measured out of the hand at 91.9 mph. In 2023, the average four-seam fastball measured out of the hand at 94.2 mph. Over the past 16 years, there has never been a season where the average four-seam fastball velocity has dipped from the previous year." I don't think that adding protection against a potentially career ending injury being a ''wussy." 1 hour ago, Cypress Sun said: Some of them are resemble (ridiculously) the foam hands that the fans wave. Agree. If they want hand protection, and I agree that it's a good idea, it should be a lighly padded hard plastic mitten style gauntlet that extends no more than an inch beyond the finger tips. Blackwater 53393
In the last year, (this Major League Baseball season) I recall no less than a dozen players who have been sidelined with broken bones as a result of being hit by an errant pitch! Just last Friday, Jeff McNiel of the New York Mets suffered a broken bone in his wrist that put him out for the rest of the regular season! He’s just the most recent!! When I was coaching youth baseball, I had the opportunity to work with a young man who was drafted out of the local high school to pitch for a Major League team. He was on the injured list and was home while recovering from knee surgery. He hit me on the ankle with a low pitch that missed the shin guard, (I was umpiring behind the plate while he threw batting practice to some of our high school players) and even with my heavy leather lineman’s boots and heavy cotton socks, it chipped a bone in my ankle and left me limping for more than a week! As far as the woman commenting in the OP, I guess everyone is entitled to an opinion and giving the rules, scripture and verse, is pretty thorough and instructional!
