Subdeacon Joe Posted September 7 Share Posted September 7 (edited) I think I figured it out when I was leaving the free charging station at the casino and saw a row of Teslas being charged. He wanted to revive the lost art of backing up. Tesla have the charging port in the rear. Tesla charging stations don't have cables long enough to reach it if you pull in nose first, you have to learn to back into the parking spot to charge. My guess is that's because Tesla has the most models available, as well as the best name recognition. Also the best network of charging stations. Around here I'm seeing more and more Rivians, both pickup and SUV. I have never really had a problem with parallel parking. I learned it pretty quickly as a kid. Regarding backing into parking spots. I flipping hate that practice. Not because I can’t, but because I have noticed that most people that back into parking spots for their quick get away or for whatever reason do it a helluva a lot slower than they would when backing out of a parking spot. The tv news was full of videos showing idiots in flooded out cars that tried to drive thru the high water...water way past the floorboards. One of the videos showed a Tesla "pickup truck" driving thru water that was about a foot higher than the floorboards. I thought to myself, that thing will have big problems or catch on fire one day due to driving thru the water. If an EV catches fire roadside, wet down the area around it and let it burn out, which seems to be the method becoming more and more common.
