Rye Miles #13621 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 You can’t make this stuff up! https://www.waff.com/2024/09/05/muscle-shoals-man-dies-after-doctor-florida-removes-wrong-organ/
Cypress Sun Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 I read that yesterday. That the "doctor" still had his credentials after serious prior mistakes (wrong organ removal) is unbelievable. I hope that his wife takes everyone involved to the cleaners and that this so-called "doctor" has his license revoked permanently and barred from ever working in any medical field again, including veterinary work.
Rip Snorter Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Granted, every thing in there is red, but Liver and Spleen - horrifying.
Okie Sawbones, SASS #77381 Posted September 5, 2024 Posted September 5, 2024 Wow! The liver and spleen are on opposite sides of the body.

He killed the guy! I say life in prison !
Pat Riot Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 I’m sure that if a doctor did that to my spouse that doctor would never practice medicine again. There is no excuse for that. None.

It's harder to get into Veterinary College than it is to get into human Medical School. I don't know of any state that would grant a license to practice veterinary medicine without having graduated from a veterinary college, and this clown would never be admitted. I think your pets and livestock won't be at risk from him.

Subdeacon Joe Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 "According to NBC, the hospital is investigating the matter." Right. More like, "Hospital is scrambling to cover its butt."

Very true, The spleen looks like a miniature catcher's mitt, and more purple than the brownish red liver. The widow is soon to come into a large sum of money...
bgavin Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Remember: 50% of all doctors (and lawyers) graduate in the Bottom Half of their class. And are still called "doctor" and "esquire". There is a reason why they mark you with Sharpie with a note "cut here". Any nurse will tell you her first responsibility is keeping the doctor from killing her patient.

I had arthroscopic knee surgery back in 2017. Having remembered when Cleveland Indians first baseman Andre Thornton had surgery performed on the wrong knee (an incident documented in one of my aunt's [a practicing nurse] textbooks) I wasn't going to take any chances. I took a Sharpie and wrote "WRONG LEG" on my good leg before I went to the hospital. One of the nurses was not amused and scrubbed off what I wrote. I was vindicated when the surgeon came to me before the operation and HE initialed my leg that was to be operated on.
MizPete Posted September 7, 2024 Posted September 7, 2024 IDK. A very good urologist of my acquaintance almost removed the wrong kidney. The OR staff prepped the wrong side.
