Pulp, SASS#28319
I recently found some old REM-UMC cartridges with a hollow point bullet. Figgered they were 125 grain, since I remember seeing them for sale. Since all the primers were dented, I pulled the bullets and they averaged 164.6, so I assume they were marketed as 165 grain. They had approx 31 grains of a stick powder. Anyone remember such a load, and how long ago they were made? This website list a 165 grain bullet, but doesn’t say hollow point: https://www.leverguns.com/articles/3030history.htm

Alpo
Remington round nose hollow point? Looks like a mushroom. These are 35 Remington not 30-30, but I'm sure they were also made in 30-30.

Seldom Seen #16162
Trivia question What manufacturer and barrel was Tom Horn’s 30-30? What was the manufacturer and bullet weight of the round used to kill Willie Nickells?
watab kid
this was and in many ways still is the deer cartridge here , we dont have a liot of areas that offer much range for your shots and most folks lke the brush gun over the heavy caliber - but some like the heavy too , just see a lot more 30 30 every year than 400 win mag and 30-06 or 308

What was the manufacturer and bullet weight of the round used to kill Willie Nickells? Horn was supposed to have used Winchester 1894. There are two rifles extant (otto was messing with me. He changed that A to an E, and I had to go look up both words to make sure that I had been correct) that are purported to have been used by him. One is a standard round barrel rifle with a button magazine. That one has a good provenance. The other one is half octagonal half round. It is, I understand, more wishful thinking on the owner's part than proof.

Took nine mule deer before I switched up to .30-06 so I could hunt elk, too.
Eyesa Horg
My 336 likes 170's better than 150's using the same brand for comparison. Now using Lever evolution, but the aren't quite as accurate as the old green & yellow corelokt.
