Nothing worth posting

As of March 2024, United Parcel Service (UPS) announced plans to close up to 200 distribution centers in the United States over the next five years as part of its "Network of the Future" initiative. The plan includes closing 40 facilities in 2024, up from 30 in 2023, and automating sorting at the remaining hubs. UPS aims to save an estimated $3 billion annually by 2028 through better productivity and reduced reliance on manual labor.
UPS says the initiative will help the company adapt to a changing business landscape and maintain competitiveness. Centralizing operations in larger hubs is expected to improve efficiency and service quality, and reduce the chance of damage to parcels. UPS also plans to standardize facilities to eliminate customization for specific clients, and invest $9 billion in network upgrades.

UPS closed 2 of their Service Centers near me. One was 15 miles away. The other 35 miles away. They closed last year. The nearest Service Center to me now is 70 miles away.

FedEx closed their main Service Center that was 4 miles from me. The sign on the door directs you to take your packages to a Box & Ship Store.
I needed to ship my Ruger SFAR back to Ruger. I walked into the Box & Ship, handed the lady my package, showed her the QR code on my phone, she printed the label and handed me a receipt and I walked out. I didn’t mention it was a rifle and they didn’t ask.

2 weeks later my rifle returned repaired.

If these companies want to inconvenience me, I am not following their flippin’ rules.

I don’t care for them either.
I needed to send a Glock 44 back to Glock. They insisted on using UPS. That’s when I found out 2 of the UPS centers were closed. I called the UPS customer service. They sent me 50 miles north. This one was only open Tuesday through Saturday. It was Monday.  I then went from there to the one 70 miles from home. I get there and the stupid (cuss words censored) behind the counter told me I couldn’t ship a gun there. She obviously didn’t know her own company’s rules. Her name tag said she was a manager. We got into an argument. I told her what she could do with herself and left.
I put 235 miles on my bike that day.
I called Glock and told them I needed a FedEx shipment label and they said “No problem”.
I raised a little hell about “Chuck” the Glock employee that told me I had to go to UPS. I got an email from a manager telling me he had been reprimanded.

In the end I sold that (censored) Glock 44. It was inaccurate and it annoyed me.

I've shot 4 different G44's. It was impossible to get even a 6" group at 10 yds. Glad I never bought one.

Oh, screw UPS to keep in line with the thread.

You mean you wanted accuracy, not just a BANG???

I bought one as well.

Adjusted the sights from a rest, Shot it from a rest.

Sorry I sold my Browning Medalist.

Now looking at a .22LR top for my Kimber

I'll sell off the Garba Glock 44 once we are able to change the (mis)government here in Canada.

If given a choice, I won’t use either FraudEx OR Oops!!  They are NEVER on time and couldn’t give a $#!+ about your package!!

More than half the time, they dump the package onto USPS anyway, so I just cut out the middle man and go straight to the Post Office!!

None of them are really worth a tinker’s damn, but I seem to have better luck with USPS!!

If I have to ship a handgun, I have a friend who is an FFL dealer and I quit shipping ammo long ago!!

You guys just kill me.  Take a post and proceed to drive it in a direction with no relevance to what was originally stated.

Reminds me of someone who has to talk to hear themselves.

No worries, I have learned a valuable lesson and will not waste my time going forward.

Respectfully,

Chas B

Me too if I ship a gun I give it to my LGS/range  used to work there part time and I go there to shoot so they take care of me.

You make one post and don’t become part of the conversation then expect everyone to stay on your track and your thought process?

Now your taking your ball and going home…

Brilliant!

Edited to tone it down a bit.

Now I understand why Amazon did not have UPS Store as a return option.

So far, all of my Amazon returns have been via UPS. The center is 30 miles south of me and I don't even have to package the item. Walk in with item QR code. Easy peasy. Sometimes they send me to a local hardware store only 12 miles away , with a shipping label, so I have to package the item.

I’m confused.

Private businesses close nonprofit producing locations all the time.  But the few times the government tries to improve efficiency to save Taxpayers hard earn money “we” complain?

United Parcel Service IS private business. It's not United States Postal Service.

My error,  missed your UPS when I’m referring to USPS.

“ The United States Postal Service (USPS), also known as the Post Office, U.S. Mail, or Postal Service, is an independent agency of the executive branch of the United States federal government responsible for providing postal service in the United States, its insular areas, and its associated states.”

And they owe the Taxpayers,  “The Postal Service has received $120 billion in financial assistance from Congress since 2020. It is requesting an additional $14 billion from the White House out of a pool of $111 billion.”
