Reading and thinking are different - 1917 to me comes down to Colt so I suggested a source for a 1917 Colt barrel. Brain fade! Check Gunparts.com (AKA Numrich from time to time.) Alpo
I have a thought. Since you're looking to replace the barrel, your replacement barrel will have the wrong serial number on it so collector value is shot. So while you're looking for a 1917 barrel, also look for a 1937 Brazilian barrel, and also for a 1950 Army barrel. All same gun, just some different markings. They made approximately 210,000 of the 1917s, 25,000 of the 1937 Brazilians, and 4,000 of the 1950 Army. So that gives you another almost 30,000 possibilities to find a barrel. Added - you might also could find a barrel from a Model 22. But if I'm reading the book right, they only made a few hundred Model 22s before they discontinued it.
