Alpo
Country song. A parody of My Old Kentucky home. This is the second verse. I've been trying to remember the first verse. I've also been trying to remember the band. I think it's the nitty gritty dirt band, but would not swear to it. Brother Gene, big and mean Don't have much to say Had a little woman that he'd whoop each day Now she's gone away Got drunk last night, kicked Mama down the stairs I'm all right cuz I don't care And the sun shines bright on our Old Kentucky home And the young folks play on the floor Yes the sun shines bright on our Old Kentucky home Keep the bad times away from our door Then it segued into Will the circle be unbroken By and by, Lord, by and by There's a better home awaitin' In the sky Lord in the sky
Alpo
Sunshine, dandelion wine Standing on the corner and feeling fine Shooting at the birds on a telephone line Picking them off with this gun of mine I got a fire in my belly, fire in my head Going to fly high till I'm dead Sister Sue, short and stout She didn't grow up she grew out Can't remember the next line Can't remember this line either And the sun shines bright on our Old Kentucky home And the Young ones play on the floor Yes the sun shines bright on our Old Kentucky home Keep the bad times away from our door Just remember most of the first verse. Still ain't sure who did it.

Alpo
Just did a web search again, using the sister Sue line. Three dog night Turpentine, dandelion wine, turned the corner and i'm doing fine. shootin' at the birds on the telephone line, pickin' em off with this gun of mine i got a fire in my belly, fire in my head, gonna hi-di-hi 'til i'm dead Sister sue, short and stout, she didn't grow up she grew out mama thinks she's pretty and she's being kind papa thinks she's lovely and he's half blind don't let her out much except at night i don't care cause i'm all right. Oh the sun shines bright on my old kentucky home and the young folks lay on the floor oh the sun shines bright on my old kentucky home keep them bad times away from my door Brother gene, he's big and mean, he don't have much to say he had a little woman that he'd whup each day but now she's gone away got drunk last night kicking mama down the stairs a-i'm all right and i don't care Oh the sun shines bright on my old kentucky home and the young folks lay on the floor oh the sun shines bright on my old kentucky home keep them bad times away from my door
Alpo
Randy Newman is a prime example of JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN WRITE A SONG DOES NOT MEAN THAT YOU ARE A SINGER
Cypress Sun
Some musical compositions aren't about the singer, music or mastery of such. It's about the message written in the words. Randy Newman is a prime example of this.
