Doug E Turtle
Here's a link to the auction with additional pictures: https://www.rockislandauction.com/detail/4092/13/the-marshfield-find-winchester-model-1886-rifle Edited to add: Howdy! I'm new here, and I'm not associated with the auction company in any way, just wanted to relay a very cool piece of history! I was an archaeologist in my former life before raising a family, and I've always been interested in history and in rare finds such as this rifle, things that have survived for a very long time despite the ravages of nature or humanity's indifference. Erasmus
That's pretty rad. Those case colors are fantastic. I would love to shoulder it compared to a modern Miroku version.

Rattlesnake Slim
I'd have to shoot it. That's what it's been waiting patiently for all these years.

Brimstone Bill Willson
Sad, that they opened the ammo boxes and removed the blackpowder out of cartridges.
Doug E Turtle
Auction was this last weekend, the Winchester went for $300k, plus commission/fees. Also of note was Pat Garrett's Colt 1877 Thunderer, which went for $450k (plus fees) and his Lincoln County Sheriff's badge, the one presented to him after killing Billy the Kid, which went for $200k (plus fees). Amazing pieces of history!
