Red Rider Rudy Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Just bought a North American Arms black powder pistol, and they say only use remington #11 percussion caps. No one around St Louis Mo. has them. Were can I get some? Thanks Rudy
Colorado Coffinmaker Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Your going to be searching "On Line" with your fingers crossed and buying in bulk.
Dilli GaHoot Galoot Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 And be VERY suspicious of any vendor you have never heard of that has tons of them in stock!! Look at the payment options, if they take PP or any cripto they are almost always a scam site
Griff Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Try: SHYDA'S OUTDOOR CENTER 1635 S. LINCOLN AVE LEBANON, PA 17042 717.273.6572 But, check 'em out first, I've never dealt with them.
Will Kane Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 Check out Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shop from time to time.

They are legit.
Sedalia Dave Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 @Red Rider Rudy Highly suggest you read the excellent white paper Mako did on percussion caps. https://guntoters.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/Percussion-Caps-and-Nipples2.pdf

Eyesa Horg Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I called Shyda's and they can't ship hazmat currently due to no employees that are certified. They hoping for the beginning of the year. Just FYI.

Dacotua Posted August 8, 2024 Posted August 8, 2024 You can make them with a die, aluminum can and the powder or paper caps too. Search youtube and youll see
Red Rider Rudy Posted August 9, 2024 Author Posted August 9, 2024 Thanks everyone for the help. My friend got me these RWS 1075, I think they will work, just need to make a pusher tool to get them all the way down.

Pb Mark Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Read your post, so got out my NAA Earl BP and checked what I could for you. I tested RWS 1075 Plus, Reminton #11, CCI #11, Winchester 11 Magnum caps for fit. Winchesters were closer fit than RWS. CCI's were way too tall. Only the Remington #11'S will work on either cylinder of my gun. The anvil thickness looked like the issue, not the length of the skirts on the other caps. Not a scientific study, just a quick check for FYI. These are precision little revolvers with zero slop. NAA has always specified only Rem #11's.
Pb Mark Posted August 9, 2024 Posted August 9, 2024 Here are the test pics. Possibly there is a chance NAA also knows Rem #11"s are sometimes unobtainable these days. These specialized nipples are removed by inserting a little Allen wrench into the flame hole. Maybe there is a chance NAA has alternative nipples available?
